Today, The Harris County Commissioners Court has approved HCFMO's request to lift the burn ban in unincorporated Harris County, which was put in place on August 8, 2023.

However, it's important to note that outdoor burning is still not allowed across Texas.

The TCEQ Outdoor Burning Rule has a few exceptions that aim to safeguard the environment and promote public health and safety. You can find out more about these exceptions by visiting https://ow.ly/zSRk50PUNvi.

The US National Weather Service Houston-Galveston Texas has issued a Red Flag Warning that is expected to remain in effect until late this evening. This means critical fire weather conditions are currently happening or will arise shortly.

Avoid any activity that causes sparks. Small fires can spread quickly in critically dry vegetation. Stay alert and take proper precautions to avoid any potential dangers.

- Remind family, friends, and neighbors that a burn ban is now in effect in unincorporated Harris County.

- Please do not throw ci******es or matches out of a moving vehicle. They may ignite dry grass and become a wildfire.

- Extinguish all outdoor fires properly. Drown fires with plenty of water and stir to make sure everything is cold to the touch.
