Reminder: There is only one more weekend to enjoy the Jerry Matheson Public Pool & Splash Pad before the 2026 season officially ends!

For Labor Day weekend, the pool and splash pad will be open from noon to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday. After Labor Day, the pool and splash pad will be closed until the 2027 season begins.

Reminder: Save the date to join us next month on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, at the Tomball Depot Plaza (201 S Elm St.) for a solemn 9/11 remembrance honoring the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost, the brave first responders who gave their lives, and all those forever impacted by the tragedy of September 11, 2001.

For the 25th anniversary, we will be holding a full ceremony in the morning beginning at 8:15 a.m., as well as a brief tribute in the evening at 7:15 p.m. During the evening tribute, two skylights will be illuminated as a symbolic representation of the Twin Towers and will remain illuminated until midnight.

Your donation can make a lifesaving difference for patients in need across the greater Houston area. All donors will receive a cozy blanket and a voucher for a free pint of beer at the Saint Arnold's Brewery as a thank-you.

The City of Tomball is joining Tomball ISD and communities nationwide in recognizing SMART week from Aug. 24 to 28, 2026, highlighting the importance of secure and responsible gun storage to help prevent gun violence.

The Be SMART campaign encourages all adults, gun owners and non-gun owners alike, to take simple steps that promote gun safety in our community.

The City of Tomball is proud to congratulate Community Development Director, Jeremy Griffin, on being named the Building Officials Association of Texas (BOAT) Building Official of the Year!

BOAT is a statewide organization of code officials, inspectors, and municipal leaders committed to advancing building safety, professional development, education, and leadership across Texas. The Building Official of the Year award is presented annually to an outstanding building official selected through peer nominations and recognized for leadership, professional service, and impact on community safety and development.

This recognition reflects Jeremy’s leadership and the continued progress of the City of Tomball’s Community Development Department. Under his leadership, the department has worked to:

• Modernize and simplify permitting and inspection processes to better serve residents and local businesses.
• Foster professional growth and mentorship among inspectors and staff.
• Participate in state-level code development and peer training to strengthen local practices.
• Earn more than 35 International Code Council (ICC) certifications across the Building Division, including a Master Code Professional (MCP) certification earned by Jeremy this past year.
• Improve Tomball’s Building Code Effectiveness Grading (BCEG) commercial ranking from 9 to 3, placing Tomball among the top 10% of cities in Texas for building safety and design.

Did you know Tomball Fire Rescue, in partnership with Harris County ESD #15 and the City of Tomball, placed Harris County’s first Safe Haven Baby Box into service at Tomball Fire Station #5 in September 2025?

The Safe Haven Baby Box provides a safe, anonymous, and legal option for parents in crisis to surrender a newborn, ensuring the child is immediately placed into the care and protection of emergency responders and ultimately a loving home.

The effort to bring Safe Haven Baby Boxes to Tomball and the surrounding area was initiated by Marcus and Melanie Luttrell of Team Never Quit, in partnership with St. Matthias Catholic Church and St. Anne Catholic Church. These organizations worked tirelessly alongside former Tomball Fire Rescue Lt. John Kelley to make this vision a reality.

The installation of the Safe Haven Baby Box at Tomball Fire Station #5 was made possible entirely through community donations, with no taxpayer funds used for the project. This milestone reflects the dedication of community members and organizations who came together to support an important resource for families in crisis and protect the lives of vulnerable newborns.

Join us on Thursday, Sept. 10, for the Mayor’s next Kaffeeklatsch meet-up of 2026, happening from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Tomball Community Center!

In September, we will welcome Amanda Kelly, Market Manager for the Tomball Farmers Market, as our featured speaker.

Kaffeeklatsch is a free, informal gathering designed to give community members the chance to learn about local programs and connect with city officials without the three-minute restriction of city council meetings.

Reminder: The City of Tomball is currently observing Stage 2 Moderate Drought Contingency of our Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan.

During Stage 2, the City requires citizens and businesses within the City limits to implement conservation measures.

Irrigation restrictions:
• Only irrigate landscaped areas with hose-end sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on designated watering days.
Designated watering days:
• Even addresses (ending in 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 ), water on Sundays and Thursdays.
• Odd addresses (ending in 1,3, 5, 7, or 9), water on Saturdays and Wednesdays.
Please note, you may irrigate landscaped areas at any time if it is by means of a hand-held hose, a faucet filled bucket or watering can of five (5) gallons or less, or drip irrigation system.

Prohibited practices:
• Do not use water to wash any vehicle except on designated watering days between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Please only wash vehicles on designated days with a hand-held bucket or hand-held hose equipped with a shutoff nozzle for quick rinses. You may continue to wash vehicles at any time on the immediate premises of a commercial car wash or service station.
• Do not use water to fill, refill, or add to any indoor or outdoor swimming pools except on designated watering days between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Do not operate ornamental fountains or ponds for aesthetic or scenic purposes unless they are equipped with a recirculation system, except where necessary to support aquatic life.
• Do not wash sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, tennis courts, or other hard-surfaced areas.
• Do not wash buildings or structures for purposes other than immediate fire protection.
• Do not use water for dust control or flushing gutters.
