Here's why...the perspective of the Old West gunfight has been deeply engrained into the public over the years and is a wonderful tradition. The notion of the good guy at one end of the street and the bad guy on the other...meeting at high noon is a beloved image know around the world. Unfortunately...it is wrong! Believe it or not, most of the gunfights during the wild days of the America West tr
anspired indoors...in saloons, brothels, cantinas & poker houses. Wherever the whiskey, women & gambling was is where these fights occurred. These men did not look at each other and respectfully say: "Sir, let us step out in the street!" The gunfights were spontaneous, quickly started & most often deadly! This misconception came from early Hollywood. During the making of the first Westerns, the directors wanted to emphasis the dramatic & deadly gunfight. Problem was they did not have the technology or lighting of today. To solve that dilemma they simply had the gunfighters/actors step outside so it could be filmed in the sunlight...and there you have it! The Gunfight Palace has created shows like nothing you've ever seen before. We take you inside where they actually happened. Not only does this allow us to perform year round regardless of the climate, but it allows us an intimate atmosphere which will place you in the very moment of life & death between the two shootists. The Gunfight Palace shows are written and narrated by adept historians, well-versed in the stories of the American West. The gunfights are recreated by professional actors using special blanks which will comfortably exhilarate you just as a real gunfight but not damage the ears or scare the youngsters. We give you a grand history lesson on the area, starting with the Native American influence, then the discovery of the town, the boom years and of course...the violence of the gunfights. Our historian narrator leads you through an incredible adventure. He/She teaches you a history lesson on the area prior to the show then continues through the gunfights. They set up the stories, giving you the information you need to understand who, what & why the gunfight came to be and then what happened to the participants after the fight.
