D- Day June 6, 1944
On this date, Allied forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in history on the coast of Normandy, France, during World War II. This massive operation (codenamed Operation Overlord) successfully established a foothold in Western Europe and ultimately led to the liberation of France and the defeat of N**i Germany.

Today we attended the Honor and Remembrance Celebration and BBQ at John C. Bartlett Jr. Park on Berkeley Island. The weather was absolutely beautiful, and we had a great turnout! It was wonderful to see the community come together to honor and remember those who served while enjoying good food, great company, and a meaningful day together. 🇺🇸

Armed Forces Day 2026 is observed on Saturday, May 16, marking the third Saturday in May dedicated to honoring all active-duty, Reserve, and Guard members of the U.S. military.
Established in 1949 and first celebrated in 1950, this day unites the five branches—Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard—under one celebration, serving as a key event in Military Appreciation Month.
Unlike Veterans Day (which honors all who have served) or Memorial Day (which remembers the fallen), Armed Forces Day specifically honors those currently serving.
