🇺🇸 Connecting with Our Veteran Community!

The Ocean County Veterans Service Bureau recently attended the Westlake Health & Safety Committee Health Fair in Jackson Township!

Held at the Westlake community clubhouse, the event brought together various organizations and service providers to share valuable information and resources focused on health, safety, and wellness.

With over 200 members in the veteran's club residing in the Westlake community, this event provided a great opportunity for our bureau to connect with residents, share information about available veterans benefits and services, and answer questions.

Thank you to the Westlake Health & Safety Committee for organizing this event and bringing valuable resources to the community!

Do you know what the Core Responsibilities are of a Patient Advocate are?

• Resolve Healthcare Concerns: Help fix problems with medical care, treatment plans, or staff communication that your doctor or care team has not been able to resolve.

• Manage Complaints and Grievances: Take official feedback, complaints, compliments, and inquiries from veterans and their families, working with facility management to find solutions.

• Assist with Clinical Appeals: Help veterans file clinical appeals regarding medical treatment decisions.

• Facilitate Mediation: Use conflict resolution and de-escalation when there is a breakdown in communication between a veteran and a provider or staff member.

• Explain Policies: Educate veterans and staff on patient rights, responsibilities, and VA healthcare procedures.

• Navigate the System: Guide veterans to appropriate subject matter experts, special programs, and benefits information

With Veterans Day, November 11, quickly approaching, now is the time to submit your applications so we can honor and recognize the brave men and women who have served our nation and call Ocean County home.
