Good morning! Eighty two years ago today at approximately 1230am our time United States Army Ranger Leonard "Bud" Lomell and 200 other Rangers landed on the shore of Normandy Beach France. On this infamous day known as D-Day some of bravest men risked their lives for the liberation of France and Europe. Sgt Lomell injured upon landing on the beaches of Normandy, scaled Pointe du Hoc to secure a strategic battle ground. Sgt Lomell saved the lives of several other Rangers while climbing some 200 feet. A 24 year old man from Toms River New Jersey who was as humble as they came went on to say in 1998 this. "We lost over 100 good men today, what else is there to say". Sgt Bud Lomell was truly one of the greatest heroes among the Greatest Generation. Never forget D-Day.

Last week, Sheriff’s Officers from our Traffic Safety Unit joined the Little Egg Harbor Township Police Department at Pinelands Regional High School for DUI Awareness Day.

The event was held for Senior Physical Education classes as part of the Class of 2026’s year-end programming — giving students a firsthand look at the dangers and consequences of impaired driving.

Thank you to the Little Egg Harbor Police Department for partnering with us on this important message, and to S/O Skinner and S/O Mazur from our Traffic Safety Unit for representing the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office.
