May this Passover bring us strength in our service and peace in our hearts.
As we answer the call to help others, may we be guided by compassion, protected in every moment, and supported by those around us.
Just as Passover reminds us of deliverance and hope, may we continue to be a source of rescue and reassurance to all in need.
May we and our loved ones be blessed with health, safety, and renewal during this sacred time.
Wishing us all a meaningful and safe Passover.

Toms River EMS IAFF Local 4846 Statement Regarding Recent Allegations

The leadership of Toms River EMS IAFF Local 4846 is aware of recent media reports concerning allegations involving a part-time EMS employee. Due to public interest and some inaccurate information circulating, we believe it is important to clarify several key facts.
At no time was this individual a member of IAFF Local 4846. The employee served solely in a part-time capacity and therefore was not eligible for union membership under the terms of our collective bargaining agreement.
Additionally, reports suggesting this individual was hired under the current municipal administration are factually incorrect. The employee was hired in 2022, during the previous mayoral administration. At the time of hiring, standard pre-employment procedures — including appropriate background investigations — were completed consistent with departmental onboarding practices.
These allegations are serious, but they remain allegations. We respect the legal process and the rights of all parties involved and will not speculate on matters that are appropriately handled by investigators and the courts.
IAFF Local 4846 remains committed to professionalism, integrity, and maintaining the public trust placed in emergency medical personnel. Our focus continues to be providing safe, high-quality emergency medical services to the residents of Toms River

Community Medical Center now offers emergency thrombectomy for stroke patients, bringing advanced, lifesaving care closer to home. This procedure can dramatically improve outcomes for patients suffering from certain types of strokes by quickly removing a clot and restoring blood flow to the brain — where every second truly counts.
For our community, this means faster access to specialized treatment without the need for extended transport times. Minutes matter in stroke care, and having this capability locally is a tremendous benefit to the residents we proudly serve.
We’re also proud to share that several of our EMTs recently had the opportunity to tour and view the new Stroke Center. Seeing firsthand the technology, expertise, and coordinated system of care in place reinforces the strong partnership between prehospital providers and hospital staff. From the 911 call to definitive treatment, it’s a true team effort.
This is a major advancement for healthcare in Ocean County — and another example of how collaboration and innovation are improving patient outcomes right here at home.

As the snow falls, know your Community Service Officers are ready and responding to emergencies throughout Toms River.

Some Storm tips:
🛣️ Road conditions are snowy and icy. If you don’t need to be on the road, stay home.

⚡️Keep your portable electronic devices charged. In the event of a power failure, NEVER run a generator indoors.

🔥 If using a space heater, do not use it near combustible material and plug it directly into a wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord.

🧣If outdoors, dress warmly and in layers. Take frequent breaks from the cold.

❄️ If you are shoveling snow, take frequent breaks and stay hydrated. Consider hiring a professional snow removal service. In case of injury or illness, call 911.

🏘️ Check in on your neighbors, especially those that live alone or are elderly.
