Today, the Silverton Volunteer Fire Company, East Dover Fire Company, and the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention continued their tradition each May by visiting the Oceans of Fun Nursery School on Fischer Blvd to speak with students about fire prevention, show off the fire trucks, and let the children have some fun spraying water.
Today was especially meaningful as Fire Inspector/Lt. Ryan LaVigne and Firefighter Sean LaVigne surprised their mother, who teaches at the nursery school, while helping educate the students on fire safety.
The LaVigne family continues a strong tradition of service to the community, carrying on a family legacy that began with their grandfather, a former Chief and Past Director of the Fire Training Center.

In honor of Mother's Day on Sunday, we are highlighting volunteer firefighter/EMT Erin Seneca! She is the mom of Harper, age six, and DJ, age four. She's also in her 20th year of teaching at High Technology High School.

International Firefighters' Day is a day to remember firefighters who have died while serving our community, and a time to show our support and appreciation to the firefighters worldwide who protect us throughout the year.
