Mayor Daniel T. Rodrick and Principal Matthew H. Gray from East Dover Elementary commend township employees Louis Reed and Ed Kempker for their quick thinking and compassion, which turned a potentially traumatic morning into a display of community support.

On the morning of the first day first day of school, Mr. Kempker and Mr. Reed noticed a six-year-old boy in distress while walking to school because his mother was experiencing a medical episode. Mr. Reed & Mr. Kempker immediately stepped in and took control of the situation with remarkable care and a calm demeanor. They spoke to and comforted the young boy, making sure he safely navigated across the busy intersection at Vaughn Avenue, and ensured he arrived at school safely and on time.

We thank Ed and Louis for their extraordinary act of service. Toms River is fortunate to have these gentlemen serving our community.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH at the TOMS RIVER SENIOR CENTER

Mayor Daniel T. Rodrick and The Toms River Senior Center welcomed the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission, Ocean County Senior Services, Ocean County Connection and the Ocean County Health Department to provide valuable outreach services to our members and residents. Services included REAL ID assistance, registration renewals, e-bike registration, title changes and handicap placards; blood pressure and glucose screenings, nutrition and tick removal education, and assistance with Veterans services, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP and other senior programs. Ocean County Connection also provided passport applications and renewals, Ocean Ride information and additional community resources. Attendees received complimentary health kits, insulated bags, tick-removal devices and other helpful items.
Bringing these services directly to our Senior Center makes it easier for our seniors to access the programs, information and assistance they need- all in one convenient location.

A Beautiful New Beginning for Terese & Jay

On August 29, Toms River Mayor Daniel T. Rodrick had the special honor of officiating the wedding of Terese and Jay Connolly at Homestead Run, where the couple resides.
Terese and Jay are cherished members of the Toms River Senior Center, and their love story is a beautiful reminder that it is never too late to find your forever person. Surrounded by friends and loved ones, they began this wonderful new chapter together with Mayor Rodrick joining them in celebrating such a meaningful moment.
We wish Terese and Jay a lifetime of love, laughter, companionship, and happiness. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
