And just like that… It’s all over. Since 2018, with 2 exceptions for COVID and scheduling conflicts, Toms River has put in a team for the NJOEMS SIM games at the National Conference on EMS down in Atlantic City. First year, the team co-founders placed 3rd with ZERO prep work. Year two, 2019, we submitted two teams. One of which advanced and ultimately made it to 2nd place (Congrats again on that Laffan and Dolch!) There was no conference in 2020 due to COVID, and 2021 there was a scheduling conflict so we were unable to compete. 2022, the team co-founders competed again and brought home 2nd place. This year, 2023, the team co-founders again went head to head against some of the greatest providers and competitors in the State, ultimately securing that 1st place victory!

This may, however, be the co-founders last year competing as one of them is starting paramedic school shortly so they will be unable to compete at the BLS level, and the other is in school to get their masters in Emergency Management. Will they compete again in 2024? Perhaps. Or will they coach a new team to greatness to take their place? Only time will tell.

There are, however… Other SIM games they may compete in. We hear Vegas is mighty fine… 👀

Special shoutout to our uniform sponsors Blauer and our corporate sponsors The Overrun ! We couldn’t have done it without your support!

In the words of Skeletor, “Until next time!”

This team, consisting of veteran competitor 1LT Keith Rodriguez and CPT Alyssa Golembeski, will be competing in preliminaries today, and hopefully in the finals tomorrow evening.
