Toms River Fire Training Center

Toms River Fire Training Center The TR Fire Academy is one of the three state approved fire-training facilities in Ocean County

The Administration Building is the main building on the academy grounds and houses the offices for the Fire Academy Directors and several classrooms, all of which are capable of holding separate courses. Two of these classrooms are separated by a collapsible partition that, when open will hold many students in one classroom. On the west side of the Administration Building you will find an indoor t

raining area. This garage-like room has three -overhead garage doors for fire apparatus that is needed for training along with bleachers for students to sit during indoor training sessions. The area provides a location to enhance hands-on skills including donning PPE, SCBA preparation, ropes and knots practice and salvage and overhaul. The Academy also has a smokehouse/drill tower, burn rooms first and second floor, various propane simulators, vehicle extrication areas, drafting locations and trench rescue/confined space simulators.

The Toms River Fire Training Center Administration and Instructors extend our deepest condolences to the East Dover Fire Company Station 28, on the passing of Life Member and Retired Fire Commissioner George Convery Sr.

Commissioner Convery was a dedicated public servant who always took great care of both Toms River Fire Districts, the fire training center and was a steadfast advocate for the fire service and the communities we proudly serve.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the members of East Dover during this difficult time.

Rest in Peace, Commissioner Convery.

2026 Winter/Spring Firefighter Level 1 & 2 Family Day

Family Day provided an opportunity for family members, friends, Chiefs, Fire Officers, fellow firefighters, and supporters to observe the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of the firefighter recruits throughout their training.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who attended and supported our recruits as they demonstrated the skills and knowledge they have developed during the program.
