I recently had the opportunity to join my fellow Ocean County Commissioner's Commissioner Robert Arace, Commissioner Jennifier Bacchione, & Commissioner Gormley, along with Ocean County Sheriff and community members to see firsthand an incredible project taking shape right here in Ocean County.

Volunteers from EAA Chapter 898 in Toms River are helping build the “The Impossible Airplane,” a custom aircraft designed for Jessica Cox, the world’s first licensed armless pilot.

What impressed me most was not only the remarkable engineering behind this aircraft, but also the dedication of the volunteers who are donating their time, talent, and expertise to make this vision a reality. Their work is a testament to the spirit of service, collaboration, and ingenuity that makes Ocean County such a special place.

Thank you to everyone involved in this inspiring effort. I look forward to following the progress of this one-of-a-kind aircraft and celebrating its future success.

Today, on Primary Election Day, I want to take a moment to recognize and thank Supervisors Beth Raymond and Jason Varano, along with the entire team at the Ocean County Board of Elections, for their dedication and hard work in serving our residents.

I had the opportunity to visit and see firsthand the incredible effort and coordination that goes into running an election. Long before the polls open and well after they close, the Board of Elections staff works tirelessly to prepare polling locations, train election workers, process ballots, and ensure every aspect of the election is conducted accurately, efficiently, and securely.

While much of their work takes place behind the scenes, it is essential to maintaining public confidence and trust in our elections. Thank you, Beth, Jason, and the entire Board of Elections team for your outstanding service to the people of Ocean County.

Tomorrow is Primary Day and if you vote by mail, now’s the time to double check where your ballot ended up. Sometimes it gets tucked under papers, buried on the counter, or forgotten in the stack of mail. Take a minute tonight to find it, fill it out, and make your plan to return it before the deadline. Every vote counts, but only if it gets turned in. 🇺🇸🗳️

At last week’s Board meeting, we adopted the Ocean County Safety and Health Policy, and it’s a reminder that safety starts with being prepared. This week is National CPR & AED Awareness Week, and I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to think about something we rarely consider until it’s too late. Most of us hope we’re never faced with that moment, but learning CPR and knowing how to use an AED can truly give someone a second chance at life.

A great opportunity for anyone looking to become more confident in responding to emergencies the Ocean County Library - Brick Branch will be hosting a Hands-On CPR program, giving residents the chance to learn and practice lifesaving skills in a supportive, instructional setting. Thursday, June 04 6:30pm - 7:30pm Registration and event details are available here: https://theoceancountylibrary.libnet.info/event

Keeping Ocean County residents safe means investing not only in our first responders, but also in the technology and infrastructure that support them. At a recent Board of Commissioners meeting, we accepted funding through the Next Generation 9-1-1 Cyber Security Grant to help strengthen and protect our county’s emergency communications systems.

These investments help ensure that our 911 network remains secure, reliable, and prepared to meet the evolving demands of emergency response in today’s digital world.

Public safety remains one of our top priorities, and we are committed to supporting the tools and technology that help protect our communities every day.

Today at our Board meeting, we took an important step forward in preserving open space in Ocean County by accepting the recommendation of the Ocean County Natural Lands Trust Fund Advisory Committee to acquire 108.30 acres for conservation.

I want to sincerely thank the Advisory Committee, and everyone involved in helping move this project forward. Their work continues to ensure that thoughtful, strategic land preservation remains a priority for our county.

Open space preservation remains one of the most important investments we can make to support smart growth and for future generations across Ocean County.

Yesterday’s tragic boating accident off Long Beach Island is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly a day on the water can change. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted, including the victims, their families, and the first responders who answered the call with professionalism and courage.

As we begin another busy summer season here in Ocean County, this is also an important moment to remind everyone about boating safety. Whether you are an experienced boater or heading out for the first time this season, safety must always come first.

Thank you to all of our emergency personnel, law enforcement agencies, and marine units who continue working tirelessly to protect our communities both on land and on the water.

I had the privilege of attending the Lakewood Community Coalition meeting last week hosted by the Lakewood Police Department!

So much goodness and great energy in that room! Community leaders, law enforcement, and faith organizations all showing up and doing the work that makes Lakewood a better place every single day.

A big thank you to LPD Captain Steve Allaire and Cori Scotti who coordinated and arranged this entire event. Because of their hard work and dedication, nights like this are possible. We heard from some incredible guests including Chief Gregory Meyer, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer, and Acting NJ State Police Superintendent Jeanne Hengemuhle, and wrapped up with a beautiful Humanitarian Service Award Ceremony celebrating people in our community who truly go above and beyond.

This is what community looks like. So proud to be part of it. 🇺🇸

It was an honor to join Mayor Peterson, Borough Council, Sheriff Michael Mastronardy, and so many community members at the Seaside Park Memorial Day ceremony today. 🇺🇸

A big thank you to the Borough for organizing such a moving tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Captain James Howell, Commander of Naval Support Activity Lakehurst and Deputy Commander of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, delivered an inspiring message that truly captured the meaning of this day. We must never forget the fallen and their families.

Thank you, Seaside Park! 🇺🇸

Today our community pauses to honor the men and women who gave everything in service to our nation. Not just their time, their sacrifice was their lives.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is a sacred reminder that the freedoms we enjoy were purchased at an unimaginable cost. To every Gold Star family in our community, I want you to know we see you, we honor your loved one, and we are forever grateful.

As neighbors, let us come together to remember and reflect. May we never take for granted what they so bravely gave.

🇺🇸 In Their Honor. Happy Memorial Day.🇺🇸
