This week two students presented very interesting workshops, two of those student are Shayne Crawford and Pearl Mullen. Pearl made a presentation about murals and street art, history about them and why they are impactful. For the activity she had the students write their names with a graffiti style. Shayne was the other presenter he talked about a game called Slashco. In the activity they brought gasoline to generators (not real ones) and answered questions based on the video he created and showed.

On October 3rd Choice High School students volunteered to clean our 2 mile section of Highway 97. Over 20 students worked together to pick up 23 bags of trash and also cooked a delicious meal that we all shared afterwards. Thank you to all the student volunteers and also to Stefani Lynch who supervised the cooking.

We recently returned from a trip the the Big Picture Learning Big Bang 2025 in Providence, RI. We flew out of Seatac on the 20th, arrived in Boston on the 21st and then took the train to Providence. The conference was an incredible learning opportunity. The students who attended, Pearl Medlar-Mullen and Summer Mason and I connected with educators from around the country, learning and sharing ideas for improving our BPL program in little Tonasket. We visited the Rhode Island state house, the Museum of Work and Culture and toured the USS Constitution in Boston plus so much more. Our advisory group was incredibly helpful with coming up with ideas for improving our school and we made lasting connections with many of the folks in our group. We returned on Saturday the 26th, exhausted but also full of new learning and experiences.

The 1st Annual Tonasket Choice High School Learning Fair was an amazing success! If you missed it, boy did you miss out! Nearly 100 people came through the fair in only 2 hours. The Choice students were well prepared and spoke well with visitors, explaining their learning and answering questions. Some Choice students also presented "ten minute Ted talks" throughout the event as well. We will certainly do this again next year.

Recently the Choice High School Bee Team created and presented lessons to grades K-5 elementary students. They tailored their presentations and activities to be age appropriate and did such a great job of interacting with the kids. The 2/3 grades got to do a pollinator scavenger hunt, the 4/5 grades got to do a "find my hive using our sense of smell" activity and the kindergarteners made model bees out of salt dough and pipe cleaners. It was such a great day at the Tonasket School Garden learning all about honey bees!
