We encourage packing a snack and extra mask in your child's backpack for their time at Kids Club.

While the weather remains nice, we do plan to go outside each day, so appropriate clothing & shoes are great as well!

COVID Guidelines We’re Implementing at the Jefferson Youth Center:

•Masks will be required indoors for all students, staff, and visitors regardless of vaccination status. Acceptable masks are cloth-based or surgical masks that cover both the mouth and nose. Bandanas, gators, and clear face shields are not considered acceptable face coverings.
•Masking is not required outdoors but is recommended for unvaccinated individuals in crowded outdoor settings.
•Social distancing of 6 feet when indoors will be prioritized to the greatest extent possible. When in the lounge, one child per piece of furniture. When in the art room or cafeteria, one child seated at each end of the table for a maximum of two children per table.
• Students, staff, and visitors will be required to complete the daily health screening questionnaire and have their temperature taken upon entry. Students, staff, and visitors must stay home when sick. Students/staff observed to be demonstrating symptoms consistent with COVID-19 will be isolated and sent home.
•Students will be assigned to a group. Groups are not to mingle. Groups must stick to their assigned schedule. This will allow for contact tracing, if needed.
•We will continue the extensive daily cleaning/disinfecting protocols including the use of electrostatic disinfectant sprayers in each building. Cleaning will be completed daily as per CDC guidance by our custodial staff.
•To allow for better ventilation: During times of warmer weather, opening windows will be encouraged in classrooms and on school buses.
•If we go on a field trip: Masks shall be required for all riders while on transportation. Assigned seating will be utilized. During times of warmer weather, windows will be encouraged to be opened.

Return to Kids Club protocols for students (same as school):
If your child cannot attend school, they cannot attend the youth center
•If sick, regardless of vaccination status: A negative COVID PCR test (at-home tests are not eligible), OR a note from a doctor, OR 10 days since the onset of symptoms.
•If tested positive: At least 10 days since the 1st positive test, AND fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, AND symptoms are improving

With Erie County being deemed "high transmission," we want to remind our camp families of the precautions we are taking at camp and also let you know that we will be re-implementing health screenings at drop-off.
•Our well child policy is strictly enforced. Monitor your child's health. If your child is unwell, they cannot attend camp and you need to communicate with our camp nurse regarding their symptoms.
•Masks strongly encouraged when indoors if not eating or drinking, if not fully vaccinated.
•Unvaccinated staff, visitors, and parents/guardians must wear a mask while at camp. Fully vaccinated staff and adults are encouraged to model mask wearing when campers are encouraged to wear masks.
•If vaccinated, we should have proof of vaccination on file.
•If your child is absent, you need to let us know why.
•Outside parent drop-off/pick-up - no parents inside without a scheduled appointment
•Group size limits still apply; stable groups with limited mingling
•Shared supplies & equipment will be limited - cleaning & sanitizing between uses
•Field trip options are limited - hiking, buy-outs - no interaction with public

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Shoutout to Nurse Jen. You may recognize her as our head camp nurse, as the nurse from Lindbergh, or as an Aquettes mom. We’re so lucky to have her here with us for the third summer! Not only does she take such good care of all the bumps and bruises, headaches and queasy bellies, but she is always on the go, looking around for ways she can help - whether it’s sanitizing, filling soap dispensers, even mopping! We appreciate you!

Staff spirit week continues and today we had a counselor showdown with flip cup tic tac toe (a super simple game that would work great at home or on camping trips!), with the final round on the big stage. Thanks to all of our staff for always being up for a challenge, a game, or getting involved in any way. The kids love to see it!
