It's not okay to be an as***le officer.
It's not okay to be mad all the time.
It's not okay to not be a morning person and be grumpy.

The officer sets the tone. If you come in sh*tty, the crew is going to react to that.

Did you have a bad morning?
Wife p**s you off?
Don't feel like getting after it today?

Smile, nod, and walk your grown ass to the bathroom. Look yourself in the mirror. Ask yourself, "am I acting like the guy I want to be?"

When you've calmed down and reset go get a cup of coffee and sit on the bumper.

The sun is rising.
The guys are laughing.
You have the best job in the world.

Go teach the overtime guy something.
Wash a dish with the rookie.
Laugh at the new kids mustache.

You don't have to be their friend but don't be the guy they hate. Have high standards.
Show them how to achieve them.
Enjoy your chosen profession.

Our days aren't guaranteed.
You have to make the most of the ones you have.
Or you can be a dick.

Always forward, always moving.

FIREFIGHTER DAY @ MIRACLE LEAGUE “IT'S FOR THE KIDS” Last Sunday, The Miracle League of WNY hosted “Firefighter Day” at Veterans Park on Grand Island. Although the rain came and cooled things off a few minutes before the first pitch, things heated right back up and it turned out to be a great day for the kids! The Miracle League of WNY is an organization that is designed to serve individuals who cannot be accommodated by established baseball leagues due to their special needs of their disabilities. What started out as a dream for residents of Grand Island quickly turned into reality with a tremendous amount of support from the community. More info can be found at miracleleaguewny.org. Several volunteer members from Grand Island Fire, River Road Volunteer Fire Company, Bergholz Volunteer Fire Dept, Brighton Volunteer Fire Co #5, and Kenilworth Vol Fire Co. # 1 accompanied and assisted the kids while at bat, running the bases, along with pitching and fielding. After a few short hours of fun and games, and a group photo in front of the fire trucks, followed what we believe is probably the best part of the event on a hot day (and even for us adults too) …cooling down from the cold water from a fire truck hose! With the help of the aerial Grand Island Truck #6 extended over the field, the super-soaker was activated from above! We have a saying around GI Fire that “it’s for the kids” …and for sure, this past Sunday was a great day for the kids! Thanks for the invite…We’ll see you next year!

GRAND ISLAND RESIDENCE HEAVILY DAMAGED BY FIRE At 11:37 AM on Monday, March 8th, Grand Island Firefighters responded to a “structure fire” at a Woodlee Ln home. Meanwhile, all occupants were able to safely exit the burning interior prior to their arrival. Fire Chief Mark Sadkowski reports that firefighters encountered heavy smoke venting from the building when they arrived on location with Engines #2, #5, and Ladder-Truck #6. Mutual Aid assistance was received from Brighton Volunteer Fire Co #5, Sheridan Park Fire, River Road Volunteer Fire Company, Kenmore Volunteer Fire Department, and the City of Tonawanda Fire Department. Our thanks for your assistance! The fire was brought under control by 12:10PM. Damage was estimated at $100,000 to the structure and $75,000 to the contents. Cause remains “undetermined” according to Fire Investigator Mike DeMartin of Grand Island Fire. There were no injuries reported. All participating units were returned in service by 1:46PM after extensive overhaul was completed.
Some pics from the fire in town of tonawanda at 244 Orchard, March 15, 2021. It is a total loss and there is a GoFundMe to help out the family. The home had to be totally demoed. My prayers go out to the family and hope that the community can help out with donations to the gofundme that was set up. https://www.gofundme.com/f/aunt-luz-uncle-angel-soto-devastated-by-fire?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=p_cp%20share-sheet&fbclid=IwAR2GDPEuqW3UJVsH-_U-S-7P2IkPdPH5fUUVL1GomDjyXqDZRwbex9IWs9U Also thanks to all the first responders Sheridan Park Fire Kenmore Volunteer Fire Department Kenilworth Vol Fire Co. # 1 Town of Tonawanda Police Department Town of Tonawanda Paramedics Brighton Volunteer Fire Co #5 Ellwood Fire Dept.
