It’s Giving Tuesday! We’re running a 🏈 pool for the Bills vs Lions game on December 15th. It’s sure to be an exciting match up! Squares are just $10 each. The payouts are: 1st Quarter - $75, Halftime - $100, 3rd Quarter - $75 and Final Score - $250. We accept Venmo, Zelle, cash and checks. 100% of the money we raise will help fund projects and programs such as: Meals on Wheels, Tops gift cards for families who could use a little extra help during the holidays, defray the cost of eye exams, eyeglasses and hearing aids, Town of Tonawanda Halloween Bash and Easter Egg Hunt, meals for guests at the Ronald McDonald House and Kevin Guest House, and more! Thank you for your support and GO BILLS!!!

Did you know that one of the causes that Lions support is disaster relief? First, when something like Hurricane Helene hits, Lions are most often the first ones to be there to lend a helping hand when it might be hard to get in critical supplies. Why? Because we’re members in the communities where we live so we’re already there and willing to mobilize. Second, one major way that we support disaster relief is by donating money to LCIF, the Lions Clubs International Foundation. When you or your local Lions Club donates money raised from fundraisers to LCIF, 100% of your dollars goes to an impacted community in the form of grants. Other Lions Clubs gather supplies like food and water to send to communities impacted by a natural disaster.

Some of our Sheridan Drive Lions participated in Parkinson’s Moving Day on Saturday, September 21st in Buffalo. You can choose to do a 2 mile or a 1/2 mile walk around the beautiful SUNY ECC campus. Our Lions team, WNY Lions, raised $1,200 and all of the money raised goes to Parkinson’s Disease research and provide resources to people with Parkinson’s. The Parkinson’s Foundation is just one of many organizations that we support. Where there’s a need, there’s a Lion and We Serve!

Did you know that April is Parkinson’s Awareness month? Parkinson’s Disease is a cause that our club is beginning to support. One of our members is training to run in a marathon Memorial Day weekend to benefit the Parkinson’s Foundation.

This April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month and we’re partnering with Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America to help people understand the complexity of Parkinson’s disease (PD).

You know who we are but do you know what we do? Why have we been asking you for your financial support a lot lately? Lions International is a worldwide service organization that focuses primarily on sight and hearing conservation. To that end, our club collects used eyeglasses, and we help cover the costs of eye exams, eyeglasses and hearing aids for people who have insufficient insurance and don’t have any other means to help pay for them. We do vision screenings for preschoolers and suggest referrals for further evaluation to help catch any potential eye issues at a young age. We provide pizza parties and ice cream socials to BOCES students who help us sort the eyeglasses that we collect and prepare them for shipment. Western NY Lions hosts a VIP picnic for individuals who have blindness or severe visual impairment. Our club donates money to help pay for the picnic and we volunteer at the picnic. We’ll talk more about other things we do in the days to come.

Thank you everyone who purchased Super Bowl squares!! Your numbers are in the grid below. We appreciate all of the support all of you have given us, especially these past couple of months. 100% of the money that is left over after payouts from this pool will go to people in need through charities and/or will help fund our service projects. The same holds true for all of our fundraisers. We do not spend a single penny raised from the public to run club operations. That’s why your support means so much to us and the people we serve.
