Our Lions Club is saddened by the loss of Barbara, Lions Jean and Marcia, wife and mother, who passed away this week.

Barbara was always by Lion Jean’s side working at a Lions event, helping with a community service project, etc.

Although she was not a Lion, she dedicated and committed herself to Lionism with Lion Jean for over 50 years and will always be a member of our Lions family! 💛💙

She was full of life with a beautiful smile and heart of gold! She will be missed by so many but we know that her light will continue to shine though her family! May you rest in peace Barbara!

Thank you Lion Ann Parelli, IPDG Rick Battaglia and PCC Sharon Higgins Battaglia for helping make this "Reimagined" Picnic go so smoothly.

This time of year our district hosts a Picnic for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Earlier this year we made the decision to cancel the in-person event. Having the reimagine our picnic we delivered bbq chicken dinners to any usual participant that was interested in receiving one.
Thank you to the Barker Lions Club for another outstanding job on the chicken.
Thank you to Aimee Budzinski-Jarvis and PDG Jeffrey Jarvis for the great job on the baked beans and olive pasta salad.
And a HUGE Thank You to all that came and helped assemble and deliver these meals. We could not have done it without all of you.

Our Club had a wonderful day of celebrating Lionism at our Installation of Officers & End-of-Year Picnic! We were missing several members but we will celebrate with them in August.

We welcomed our new District Governor Spencer and his wife and Partner-in-Service, Karen. DG Spencer installed our Officers and enjoyed meeting and spending time with our Club members.

We are grateful to everyone who has supported our fundraisers this past year. Your financial support provided us the opportunities to assist many children, individuals, and organizations in need this last year!

We look forward to a new year and the many opportunities we will participate in to provide service to our community and its’ families! 💛💙

JUNE 1st - HELEN KELLER DAY
In 1925, Helen Keller attended the Lions Clubs International Convention and challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness."

The Lions accepted her challenge and our work ever since has included sight programs aimed at preventable blindness.

In 1971, the Board of Directors of Lions Clubs International declared that June 1 would be remembered as Helen Keller Day.

To watch Helen Keller's Speech at the 1925 International Convention, and read the transcript please visit https://www.lionsclubs.org/en/resources-for-members/resource-center/hellen-keller

Congratulations to our District Governor Rick and a beloved, Club member who celebrated his Cabinet Recognition & Testimonial Dinner at Kloc’s Grove on Friday evening.

Our Club members prepared and delivered homemade lasagna and sauce with meatballs, salad, bread, and dessert to Kevin Guest House for the families who are staying there this evening.

Kevin Guest House is a hospitality house which provides a comfortable and supportive home-away-from-home for patients and families traveling to Buffalo to receive health care and treatment in area hospitals and medical centers.

Sharing a meal with those who are visiting Buffalo for their medical needs is a beautiful way to serve and show others we care.

Together, We Serve! 💙

Our Club spent this week sharing our time bringing some Easter joy to the children in our community!

Club Members assisted the Town of Tonawanda with their annual Easter Egg Hunt for children. Our members worked with the special needs children giving them an opportunity to have their own area to quietly hunt for Easter Eggs.

We also collaborated with St. Christopher Parish Outreach and delivered 44 beautiful Easter baskets for each of the Pre-School children at Holy Cross Headstart in Sheridan Parkside.

We love providing service in our community and enjoying the smiles and laughter of children having fun! 💜💗

A New Day 2021 Campaign

Lions Clubs provide volunteers opportunities for anyone who wants to assist individuals and families in their communities who are in need. We strengthen our communities through our service and we provide service with kindness!

If you’re looking to volunteer your time, even a few hours a month, to give back to your community, Lionism may be for you.

Our service opportunities focus on hunger, vision, diabetes, pediatric cancer, and the environment - truly something for everyone!

Hunger insecurity within families, especially our Senior Citizens and children, is a real issue in our communities.

A goal of our Club this year was to fill the local Little Food Pantries (LFP’s) each month around the community. The LFP’s provide a quick meal or some basic food items for any individual/family in need. Their motto is ‘Take what you need; leave what you can!’

This past week, our Club Members, filled 4 of them - DeGraff’s, Decades on Sheridan Dr., Big Mike’s, and Bountiful Blessings.

This is a simple way to share kindness with our neighbors in need! As Lions, we continue to serve! 💛💙

Save the date .... 🥞☕️
Our Club had the pleasure of preparing dinner and dessert for the St. Christopher Neighbors in Need dinner held on Saturday, September 14th for individuals in need of a hot meal & fellowship! We served about 50 people with homemade minestrone soup, subs, Asian salad, and delicious trifles for dessert! Together, we serve! 💛💙
The Sheridan Drive Lions prepared sandwiches, snacks, homemade cookies, fruit, etc. and went to work with the amazing volunteers of Buffalo’s Good Neighbors in Firemen’s Park serving a meal to about 100 individuals who are in need. ❤️ One of the grateful recipients, Willie, wanted to get in on the photos with us today. 💛💙

They met some of the Kids Club Members and Staff and presented a check in sponsorship of the Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks, & Recreation Department’s Summer Camp that will be held at Jefferson. We are always finding ways to serve the families in our community especially the children. 💙💛
Members of the Sheridan Dr. Lions Club spent the afternoon with hundreds of other volunteers at New Era field packing 5,000 backpacks for needy children in memory of Pancho Billa. It was an amazing day of Bills fans & volunteers coming together to honor the wishes of this generous, kind-hearted, spirited Buffalo Bills fan, Ezra Castro. Together we serve! 💙🦁💛
