Earlier today, Toney Volunteer Fire & Rescue responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Pulaski Pike and Beaver Dam Road. No injuries were reported; however, fluids from the vehicle were leaking into the nearby creek.

Huntsville Fire & Rescue’s Hazardous Materials Team responded and deployed absorbent pillows to contain and collect the spilled materials.

Please use caution when traveling through the area until permanent repairs can be made to the damaged guardrail.

To our valued fire service partners, law enforcement agencies, emergency responders, community leaders, family, friends, and the citizens of Madison County:

On behalf of the members of Toney Volunteer Fire & Rescue, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for the overwhelming support shown to the family of Life Member Darrell Bell and to our department during this difficult time. The kindness, compassion, and unity displayed over the past several days have been a powerful reminder of what it truly means to serve and to be part of a community.

To the many fire departments, EMS agencies, and law enforcement personnel who assisted with the visitation, funeral service, procession, and district coverage, your professionalism and willingness to stand beside us made it possible for our members to honor Darrell with the dignity he deserved. Your
presence was felt not only by our department, but by the Bell family and the countless individuals whose lives Darrell touched.

To the Bell family, thank you for allowing us the privilege of honoring a man who dedicated so much of his life to serving others. Your strength and grace have inspired all of us.

To the friends, neighbors, and members of the public who offered prayers, kind messages, meals, and support, your generosity has been a source of comfort to our department and to the Bell family. Seeing the community line the procession route and stand in solidarity was a powerful tribute to Darrell’s legacy.

Darrell Bell was a mentor, a leader, and a friend to many. The outpouring of support from across the region reflects the impact he made throughout his
decades of service. We are humbled and grateful for every act of kindness shown during this time of remembrance.

Thank you for standing with us, for honoring Darrell, and for demonstrating the true spirit of community.

Sincerely,

Heath B. Jones
Fire Chief
