🪷 We have just a few spots open in our Korean Lotus Lanterns program on Mon., May 11th from 6:00-7:30 pm. Take a look at the beautiful lantern you’ll craft in the program! It’s currently part of our Inside Korea book display, so you can see it in person. Give us a call at 913-845-3281 if you’d like to come. For adults and those 14 years and older.

We’ll also learn about the significance of the lotus flower and what the Lotus Lantern Festival is. We’ll have authentic Korean snacks and tea plus a short film after the craft about the culture and history of Korea. Don’t miss out! 🇰🇷

Thanks to the Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project for presenting this program.

Wow, did we get lucky! The THS Art Club volunteered, using their own supplies, to redo our Community Garden Sign, and they did a fantastic job! They repainted it and added fun details too. Combined with the efforts of the other high school volunteers during Community Service Day last week, the garden is ready to go.

If you're interested in a plot in the garden, we have the registration form and information you'll need at the library's front desk.

🌱 Time to get growing! We were fortunate enough to have some hard working high school volunteers at the community garden yesterday, and now it’s ready to go! Select a plot for just $20 and have your own dedicated area for whatever you want to grow.
🍅🥒🫑🌻🪏

We have reservation forms at the library, and you’ll need to contact garden manager, Arlee Kilbourn, to select your plot. You can email her at [email protected]

The community garden is located next to the old library at 303 Bury St.

Our flag took a beating in Monday’s storm and frayed, so we had to change it out. Proudly flying is a flag that flew over the United States Capitol on February 16, 1984 and was donated to us by one of our patrons. Only four library staff members were alive in 1984! Don’t make guesses as to who! 😂

Last week was National Library Week, and we got the best gift of all from a family we see all the time, the Schneiders. A couple of weeks ago Mac and Merrick asked each full-time worker who their favorite superhero was. We answered, of course not knowing they were doing something with it! Imagine our surprise: They made us into superhero librarians complete with stories and photos (while also learning a little about AI in the process). We wanted to share with all of you and hope you enjoy it just like we did! 🦸‍♀️❤️
