**REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED**

👷‍♂️🚱Temporary Water Service Disruption during Repairs - Vicinity of Shawnee Street and 5th Street🚱👷‍♂️

On August 13, 2026 there was a water main leak located near the intersection of 5th Street and Shawnee Street.

Residents in this area may experience an interruption in their water service.

Tonganoxie Public Works staff are working to repair the issue starting at approximately 1:15 PM on August 13 and anticipate that water service will be restored within 3 hours.

The areas expected to be temporarily without water service include the 100 & 200 block of 5th Street and the 500 block of Shawnee Street as depicted in the attached map.

🪣 Tonganoxie Fire Department Firework Bucket Brigade 🎆

The Tonganoxie Fire Department is helping our community celebrate safely this Independence Day by providing FREE Firework Disposal Buckets to residents.
Buckets are available at local fireworks stands in the city limits.
Thank you to Kansas Fire Marshal and Himpel Lumber & Building Center for their partnership with providing the stickers and buckets.

Reminder: Fireworks may be sold and discharged in the City of Tonganoxie from June 30 through July 4, between 8:00 AM and 11:00 PM.

Help keep your family, neighbors, and community safe by properly disposing of your used fireworks.

How It Works:

💧 Fill the bucket with water.
🎇 After enjoying your fireworks, place all used fireworks into the water.
🌙 Let them soak overnight before placing them in your regular trash.

🪣 FREE disposal buckets are available while supplies last.

🏡 Please limit one bucket per household so we can help as many Tonganoxie families as possible.

Let's all do our part to reduce the risk of fires and injuries this holiday.

A reminder from the Tonganoxie Police Department that even though fireworks are for sale you legally cannot shoot them off until 8am June 30th and ending July 4th at 11pm.
