Celebrating CTE Month: Spotlight on Ramie

This CTE Month, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on outstanding students who are paving the way for their futures through Career and Technical Education. Meet Ramie, a remarkable student at Tooele High School, who also takes classes at the Community Learning Center.

Ramie is passionate about the culinary arts and has excelled in her ProStart 1 & 2 classes under the guidance of Mr. Broncho at the Community Learning Center, who says, "Ramie has worked super hard in my ProStart classes this year." Her dedication and talent have set her on a path to success, with plans to attend culinary school after graduation.

This year, Ramie will proudly represent her school at the state ProStart Competition and the region FCCLA competition in baking and pastry. Her excitement is contagious as she shares, "I get to go and experience what it would be like in a real commercial kitchen. I get to plan my own meals, make, serve, and eat them!"

Ramie's journey into the culinary world began with a gentle nudge from her mom and encouragement from a friend to try the foods class. From there, her passion ignited, and she now dreams of earning an associate degree in culinary arts at a community college, followed by a bachelor's degree at BYU.

Her advice to fellow students? "Try everything. High school only happens once, and almost all the classes you take are cheaper than real-life classes. Try everything now, or you'll miss ever having the opportunity. Who knows, you may even fall in love with something you were just going to try, like I have."

Ramie, you are an inspiration, and we cannot wait to see all the amazing things you will accomplish!

CTE programs at the CLC help students go places!

Dive into the World of Justice! Tooele's CLC Concurrent Enrollment Corrections & Criminal Law Classes had an eye-opening adventure! From meeting CERT SWAT members to a K-9 demo & inmate panel at Utah State Correctional Facility, they got a firsthand look into corrections. Then, they toured the Matheson Courthouse, rubbing elbows with judges and exploring the court system. This week, the class will visit the Tooele County Detention Center.

Huge thanks to all agencies involved for making these experiences unforgettable!
