Devin Rose, a Utah resident, has found a unique way to use his love for technology to help schools and sports teams. His business, D&C Drones Agricultural Drone Services, involves using a large drone to dump a special kind of dirt on sports fields at schools to help melt snow faster.

The idea for his business came after seeing a news story about high school spring sports games being postponed or canceled due to heavy snow still on fields. His business is still new, but he says he's learning the best way to fly and make lines of dirt on fields to make the snow melt faster. Click the link below for the full story:

Congrats Utah State University! The launch of the Atmospheric Waves Experiment (AWE), led by USU's Space Dynamics Laboratory and College of Science, is scheduled for December 2023. AWE, a NASA-funded project, will study how Earth's weather interacts with space weather by providing unprecedented images of Earth's gravity waves from an orbit of about 400 kilometers above. The project will help forecast the effect of atmospheric gravity waves and space weather on satellite communications and enable mission planners and satellite operators to plan contingencies. This is a major milestone for USU as it represents the first time the university has served as a total mission provider for a major NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration program. Zipline has launched a new aircraft, the P2 Zip, which is designed to carry up to eight pounds of cargo within a 10-mile radius. The drone is designed to be able to land a package on a more precise space like a doorstep, and can travel up to 10 miles in 10 minutes. The P2 Zip employs both lift and cruise propellers and a fixed wing, helping it maneuver quietly and precisely. This means fast and accurate deliveries even in Utah's windy and snowy weather. Zipline has put its original fleet to work in Rwanda and expanded its services to six countries and in three states, including Utah! To learn more, read the article here: http://bit.ly/3llMeve

Provo City Government is seeking funding for an expansion at the new Provo Municipal Airport, as the travel hub becomes increasingly important to the local economy. The airport has seen a rise in business with the addition of more routes from Allegiant and Breeze Airways both of which have Provo Airport as their home base in Utah. The City is hoping to add new gates, another runway, and a customs area to facilitate international flights. With faster and less expensive parking and quicker TSA screenings, Provo Airport is becoming an increasingly attractive option for passengers compared to Salt Lake City’s airport. The airport currently offers over 60 flights in and out each week to destinations such as Las Vegas, Orlando, and Nashville, with more expected to be added in the future.
