Today we had the opportunity to host the 2026 Tooele Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of Special Olympics Utah.

It was great to see athletes, students, community members, and our partners from the Tooele City Police Department, Grantsville City Police Department, and Utah Highway Patrol come together for such a meaningful event.

A special thank you to Stansbury Junior High and Stansbury High School for supporting the athletes along the route. We also want to recognize the Tooele Walmart for generously donating lunch for everyone involved, and the North Tooele Fire Department for cooking and serving the meal.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s Torch Run a success.

This Thursday, local law enforcement agencies, in partnership with Special Olympics Utah, will host the annual Special Olympics Torch Run in Stansbury Park.

For the safety of participants, Stallion Way between Gascony Lane and Bates Canyon Road, along with Bates Canyon Road from Stallion Way to Stratford Drive, will be temporarily closed beginning at 11:00 a.m. for approximately 15 minutes.

Please plan accordingly and expect minor delays in the area. Drivers traveling to or from Stansbury High School or Stansbury Junior High are encouraged to use Village Boulevard as an alternate route, as Stallion Way and the west portion of Bates Canyon Road are expected to reopen sooner.

We appreciate the community’s support for our Special Olympics athletes.
