SLATER FIRE UPDATE

The READY status for the Terra area has been lifted.

Fire personnel will remain in the area as they continue working the Slater Fire and Tom Creek Fire.

Update: Thanks to the continued efforts of fire personnel and improving conditions, the Terra area has been moved from Set status back to Ready status.

SLATER FIRE

The Slater Fire is moving north and is approaching the Terra area. Fire officials have placed Terra residents at Level 2 – SET status.

Residents should be prepared to leave on short notice and continue monitoring official updates.

This is not an evacuation order at this time.

If an evacuation is ordered, shelter will be available at the LDS Church in Dugway for anyone who needs it.

NEW START: The

The Slater Fire is currently estimated at 50 acres, located about 6 miles east of Dugway. Driven by rapid growth and a northward push, the town of Terra has been placed under a SET evacuation notice.

Fire behavior has leveled off momentarily. Air tankers are working overhead to help keep it controlled while ground resources head to the scene.

For the latest evacuation updates, please follow the Tooele County Sheriff's Office.

In Tooele County we are a small office with a big role in everyday planning and mitigation and thinking about recovery long before the response ever happens. The Tornado Warning issued by the National Weather Service has been cancelled but expect rain at least for the next hour. Stay vigilant and check on your neighbors to make sure they are aware of the cancellation of the warning.

🚨 Great Basin Moves to Preparedness Level 5 🚨

Effective 7:00 a.m. MDT, August 6, the Great Basin has increased to Preparedness Level 5 due to increased wildfire activity, high demand for firefighting resources, and multiple Incident Management Team commitments. The National Preparedness Level is also 5.

This means firefighting resources are stretched across the region. Please do your part to prevent human-caused wildfires by using .
