5 Rules for Winter Driving — Rule #2: Winterize Your Vehicle!

Cold weather can affect brakes, tire pressure, vehicle oil, and driving conditions. Just as it’s important for Floridians to prepare their homes for hurricane season, it’s important for Utahns to prepare our vehicles for blizzard season.

Remember:
-Make sure your windshield wipers are in good condition—if not, replace them.

-Check your tire pressure and tread—install winter tires if recommended for your vehicle.

-Refill antifreeze solution—make sure it’s antifreeze, not water.

-Always keep an ice/snow scraper in your vehicle—clear windows before you drive and keep the scraper on hand for unexpected weather.

-Add an emergency kit to your car—to prepare for the possibility of breakdowns or traffic stoppages, include warm clothes, water, food, a flashlight, a portable charger, and any other necessities you might need in an emergency.
