Serving your state takes commitment and there’s more than one way to answer the call. 🇺🇸

From the Kansas Highway Patrol to the National Guard, opportunities are out there for those ready to lead, protect, and serve.

The discipline, resilience, and work ethic built through a military career translate seamlessly into law enforcement. It’s a natural transition—continuing a mission of service while building a career that makes a difference every day.

Even better, members of the National Guard can serve in a dual-role capacity—continuing their military commitment while pursuing a career with KHP. Two uniforms, one purpose: protecting and serving our communities at home and beyond.

Buckle up — a winter storm is forecasted to deliver damaging ice and heavy snow. 🌨️⚠️

Stay home if you can, but if you must venture out, make sure you're prepared. ⤵️

01/22/2026

Crews are currently watching the weather forecast and are preparing for the possibility of snow. Resources for the public regarding parking, snow clearing, and more can be found on the home page of our website: https://topeka.gov/seasonal/winter_conditions/index.php

We would like to remind the public that in the event of snow, we encourage downtown visitors to utilize the downtown parking garages. Using the garages, and not parking in roadways will help keep roads clear for snowplows to operate efficiently Parking garage gates will be open free of charge from Friday 6pm until Monday 6 am, or until snow clearing operations downtown are completed.

Happy Holidays from the Kansas Highway Patrol!

Our Troopers are out working this holiday season to keep Kansas roadways safe. As you travel throughout the state, make safety your top priority. Plan ahead, buckle up, avoid distractions, drive sober (use a rideshare if needed), and stay weather aware.

Let’s work together to make sure everyone gets home safely.

Traveling in Kansas and need help? Call *47 (HP) or *582 (KTA) if you’re on the Kansas Turnpike.
