Meet Our Board: Jennifer Sourk, Immediate Past Chair

For Jennifer, General Corporate Counsel at Midwest Health, Inc., serving on the Topeka Community Foundation Board of Directors is more than a volunteer opportunity. She is a dedicated leader, having served on boards and committees for several local organizations. Her vision for the future of this community is an action plan, and she is ready to tackle the challenges along the way.

Did you know? Doorstep Inc. has been serving Topeka for 60 years!

TCF staff had the opportunity to support Doorstep's mission by packing up 144 hygiene kits. Thank you to Lisa Cain, Executive Director, for stopping by to share some exciting organizational updates, and discuss the rising need for food and groceries among Topeka-area families.

One week ago, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the North Vista Apartments, a project funded in part by impact investing and made possible through the vision, heart, and collaboration of dedicated partners across the community.

Congratulations to Reden and Dina Jalosjos, co-owners of North Topeka Apartments LLC, on the official opening of North Vista Apartments Building 1!

This project is the result of their dedication and the commitment of many partners across our community for the past few years of planning and building. Today, we celebrated 24 new units of stable, affordable housing in North Topeka.

Thank you to the Jalosjos family, our Board of Directors and Local Impact Investing Committee, Bennington State Bank, City of Topeka Government, Falk Architects Inc and so many other partners like Topeka Rescue Mission Ministries for turning this vision into a home.

Meet Our Board: Mark Slyter, DSc, FACHE

Mark Slyter returned to his home state of Kansas in 2025 to lead Stormont Vail Health, and he joined the Topeka Community Foundation Board of Directors in January of 2026. On our blog, he shared his vision for philanthropy's role in our community's future: "Philanthropy strengthens our community in powerful ways. When people come together with shared purpose, we see the impact of collaboration, synergy, and collective generosity."
