We can't believe it's been one month since our partners and community gathered in downtown Topeka to commemorate the 72nd anniversary on May 17th of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision! Here are more photos from a remarkable evening of celebration, reflection, and recommitment to the work ahead.

Sunday, May 17th marked the 72nd anniversary of the historic Brown v. Board of Education decision. We had the opportunity to honor the occasion with the gravitas it deserved! ✨ Those in the room with us know the power behind J. Ivy's emotive performance and Ben Crump's poignant keynote. They were the special guests we needed - to inspire hope and move us to act.

Friends, we are just a few days away from the 72nd anniversary commemoration of Brown v. Board of Education! For those joining us Sunday, here are a few details you'll want to know:

- We'll open doors early at 4:45 p.m.
- Dinner service will begin at 5:30 p.m.
- Parking at the Townsite Tower garage is FREE for the event.
- For expedited entry and guest safety, handbags larger than 12" x 6" x 12" are not permitted.
- Please check in at the entrance using your name or your table host's name.
- Attire is business or commemoration festive, fit for the occasion.
- A limited number of Ben Crump’s New York Times bestselling book, Worse Than a Lie, will be available for purchase. Book Signing with Attorney Crump will follow the program.

Did you know? The NAACP Legal Defense Fund spent years building the legal strategy behind Brown v. Board of Education before the case ever reached the U.S. Supreme Court. Attorneys like Thurgood Marshall, Charles Hamilton Houston, and local legal teams across multiple states gathered evidence, interviewed families, and documented the deep inequalities in segregated schools.

Their work laid the foundation for the Court’s unanimous 1954 ruling and helped reshape the future of public education in America.
