Join us this Thursday, March 23! Retired federal judge U.W. Clemon is presenting the 45th Foulston Siefkin Lecture at 12:30 p.m. CT in room 114. The lecture will also be broadcast via Zoom (registration required for Zoom to receive the link).

Judge Clemon will present on his experience desegregating schools. He will begin by talking about his experience with segregation in the 1940s, in his early career, and the struggle to keep schools desegregated today. One of his proposed solutions to permanently desegregate schools is to expand the United States Supreme Court. He believes that we cannot realize the goal of desegregation until we have a more representative judicial branch.

The Washburn Law Journal is pleased to present "American Dream: Reality or Myth?" Law Symposium. The symposium will explore the conceptual viability of the American Dream. The American Dream promises to all Americans that through hard work and perseverance they can rise from rags to riches to fulfill their economic Manifest Destiny. Reality belies this myth.

Registration is now open (required to attend, but is free)! Please visit https://washburnlaw.edu/americandream for more information.

This program will explore the core aspects of the American Dream, and the policies and laws that shape them, to determine whether equality of opportunity exists for the average American.
