A little late posting this, but the KSA and WSA Soaring hosted a Club Class national glider contest from August 4-13 at the Sunflower Gliderport in Hutchinson, KS and invited KDOT Aviation for the kickoff. They had roughly 20 contestants from as far away as Calgary drive in to participate in this cool contest. What a fun event and a cool bunch of individuals.

Over the last couple of days, the FAA's Central and Southwest Regions hosted aviation directors from the covered states for a peer information exchange and to hear our challenges and suggestions. Kansas is covered under the FAA's Central Region with MO, NE, and IA. Let me just say that over the last almost 3 years as the director of aviation and for the prior 3 years as the Augusta Municipal Airport Manager, the FAA's Central Region has been an amazing partner to Kansas airports. Thank you Central Region staff!
