Today was a bitter sweet day for the Shawnee County Election Office. People from all over as well as county departments came by to help celebrate the retirement of Election Services Manager Micki Bicknell after 14 years.

While 14 years may already sound like a lot, it’s hard to put into perspective the thousands and thousands of hours sacrificed for the job, the many weekends and late nights worked, as well as the many things she did behind the scenes on behalf of the voters of Shawnee County to ensure a smooth and satisfactory voting experience.

We thank her for all her hard work and dedication and wish her the best on the next chapter of her life!

Kris Kobach’s Kansas Attorney General staff teamed up with Shawnee County Election Commissioner Andrew Howell and his staff to give a presentation to local Cub Scout troops on the importance of civic engagement and the basics of the voting process. It was fun to engage the next generation of voters and appreciate the invitation to come speak! 🇺🇸🇺🇸

The Shawnee County Election Office is back in Garden City for day 2 of the Kansas County Clerks and Election Official conference. Today’s training by the Kansas Secretary of State staff included a review of security procedures required by statute and a refresher on newer statutory requirements around both precinct and ballot audits and recount procedures should those be needed in upcoming elections

Shawnee County election staff is in Garden City for day 1 of the Kansas County Clerks and Election Officials Association conference. Were gathered with over 105 county clerks and election officials for election training by the Kansas Secretary of State and updates on legislative changes

Thank you to Topeka Center for Advanced Learning and Careers for inviting Shawnee County Election Commissioner Andrew Howell and the Shawnee County Voter Registration Clerk to your class to engage young adults on the voting process and how they can exercise their civic duty. There was great discussion and a lot of excitement from the group and we hope to see y’all out during election season!
