The KBI and the Winfield Police Department are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of five victims and one male suspect in Winfield, Kansas.

At approximately 8:50 a.m., Aug. 11, officers with the Winfield Police Department were dispatched to a residence at the 400 block of West 9th Ave. The caller, later identified as Ronald Williams Sr., 53, of Winfield, told dispatch he had killed his family and intended to kill himself.

When officers arrived, they heard a single gunshot, and began establishing a perimeter. At approximately 10:57 a.m., officers entered the residence and found six subjects with gunshot wounds. EMS arrived and pronounced five victims and Williams Sr. deceased at the scene.

The victims have been identified as:

Kelly L. George, 44
Carol A. Williams, 9
Ronald H. Williams Jr., 7
Sarah K. Williams, 5
Kelly M. Magee-Williams, 3

KBI assistance was requested at 11:05 a.m. KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team responded to the scene.

It is believed Williams Sr. killed the five family members prior to placing the 911 call, and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly after law enforcement arrived.

This investigation is ongoing. No further information will be released at this time.

UPDATE: Homer Gilson was located safe in Topeka. The has been canceled.

EARLIER: The Hutchinson Police Department requested we issue a statewide Silver Alert for a missing Hutchinson man.

The whereabouts of 79-year-old Homer Lee Gilson, of Hutchinson, are unknown and the public’s assistance is requested to help locate him.

Gilson is likely driving a silver 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a brush guard on the front bearing Kansas tag 3478AED. He was headed to Topeka on the morning of Aug. 11 when he became lost.

Gilson is a white male who is around 6 foot 2 inches tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He has gray hair, blue eyes, and has a medical condition that may impair his ability to return safely without assistance.

If you see Homer Lee Gilson, or his vehicle, please call 911 immediately. If you have other information about his whereabouts, please call the Hutchinson Police Department at 620-694-2816.

Many of us love to share milestones of our little ones but posting a simple street number in the background or even a mascot on a jersey could expose your child's location to online strangers.

As a precaution, avoid posting information about your child's:
- Name
- Age
- School
- Teacher
- Room number
- Bus route
And any other identifiable information that could help strangers track your child.

It is our responsibility to create the barrier between our children and harm.

The KBI is assisting the Rush County Sheriff’s Office with a death investigation in Liebenthal, Kansas.

The Rush County Sheriff’s Office requested KBI assistance at approximately 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8. KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team responded.

An adult male was located deceased inside a recreational vehicle parked at a residence in the 100 block of Court Street in Liebenthal.

Preliminary investigation indicates no evidence of foul play, and no autopsy has been ordered. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next-of-kin notifications.

No further details are expected to be released at this time.

Following a KBI investigation in 2025, Pedro Moreno-Duenas, 26, was sentenced to 151 months in prison for drug trafficking. In addition, Marco Carillo, 55, was charged in connection to the case and is sentenced to 37 months in prison.

An illegal alien from Mexico was sentenced to 151 months in prison for drug trafficking.

We have canceled the endangered persons advisory that was issued on behalf of the Yates Center Police Department. Tava Glover was located safe in Oklahoma, and is now with family. Thank you for your assistance.

The KBI has issued an endangered persons advisory, on behalf of the Yates Center Police Department, for a missing Yates Center woman.

The whereabouts of 44-year-old Tava Glover are unknown, and the public’s assistance is requested to help locate her.

Glover last made contact with her family on Tuesday, Aug. 4, when she was expected to be driving home to Yates Center from Kansas City. She is believed to be driving a 2016 white Lincoln MKZ bearing Kansas tag 9261AGM.

Tava is a white female who is approximately 5 foot 4 inches tall and weighs around 174 pounds. She has light brown hair and hazel eyes. Authorities believe she may have traveled in Pittsburg, Kansas, Miami, Oklahoma, and Ottawa, Kansas since Tuesday.

Tava has been diagnosed with a serious medical condition and is without necessary medication.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Kingman Police Department are investigating multiple allegations of child sexual abuse made against an owner of a home daycare, who also had access to children while employed as a bus driver with Kingman-Norwich public schools.

On the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 4, an allegation of child r**e was reported to officers of the Kingman Police Department. At approximately 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, the Kingman Police Department arrested Tony Streight, 47, for r**e of a child under 14 years of age, and indecent liberties with a child. The arrest occurred at the Kingman law enforcement center. Following his arrest, Streight was booked into the Kingman County Jail.

The Kingman Police Department requested KBI assistance on Aug. 5, at around 4:50 p.m. KBI agents responded to help investigate.

Streight was one of two adults operating a home daycare at 250 East H Ave., in Kingman. The daycare, Little Explorers Playschool, had operated since 2017, and was licensed since 2022.

The KBI asks anyone with information related to this investigation, or whose children were under the supervision of Streight, to contact the KBI at 1-800-KS-CRIME. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online at www.kbi.ks.gov/sar.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation is ongoing. No further information will be released at this time.

On 07/26/2026 at 11:39 am, the Wichita Police Department provided the following information to the KBI:

On 07-26-2026 at 2:16 a.m., Araceli Gonzales was forcibly taken by her father Saul Gonzales Diaz from her mother. The father had beaten the mother in a domestic violence incident and had a gun in his possession. The mother reported hearing a possible gunshot in the residence prior to the child being taken. Police believe this child is in imminent danger. The suspect left from 4240 E Boston St. in Wichita in a 1998 White Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck bearing Kansas license plate 446-MSL in a unknown direction. The Wichita Police believe the suspect and the child are still in the Wichita area.

Saul Gonzales-Diaz is a 21-year-old Hispanic male, 5 foot 6 inch, weight 165 pounds, brown hair, black eyes. He was last seen wearing a grey tank top, grey shorts, and black Nike Air Jordan tennis shoes. Saul has a beard and mustache.

Araceli Gonzales is 2 years old, Hispanic female, black hair, brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink dress with possibly a white flower pattern and pink Hello Kitty tennis shoes. Araceli as short very curly hair.

Call 911 immediately if you have seen a missing child, suspect, or suspects vehicle. If you have other information on a missing child, call 911 or the Wichita Police Department at 316-383-4661.
