As I retire from Christ the King, I find myself reflecting on what an unexpected blessing this past year as librarian has been. I stepped into some very big shoes, and while I only served in this role for one year, I truly had so much fun and learned so much along the way. I enjoyed the challenges, the books of course, teaching every single student in the school, and all the little moments with them that made each day special.

One of the greatest joys was working with students I had never taught before and getting to know their families, while also reconnecting with my former students and their families. Christ the King is such a special place because of its incredible staff, beautiful families, and amazing children.

As I move into retirement and look forward to spending more time with family, I know I will miss this community dearly. And honestly, it’s the little things — like the sweet “whiteboard graffiti” left by students in the library — that remind me of the million reasons I loved being here.

Thank you, Christ the King, for the memories, the laughter, the support, and the love. My time here has meant more to me than words can say.

Thank you for supporting our Scholastic Book Fair this past fall. Because of your generosity, we were able to add many new books to our collection, including several in Spanish, helping us better serve all of our students.

Your support also made it possible for us to purchase a complete podcasting kit—featuring audio and visual equipment, a soundboard, secure storage, and a rolling table—everything needed to launch a school podcasting program.

We are truly grateful for your partnership, your generosity, and most of all, for the way you continue to be your child’s strongest advocate for literacy.

Our sincere thanks go to Raelyn Graham and her parents for their generous gift to our library. Their support has helped expand our collection and create new pathways for students to dive into stories, explore new ideas, and grow as readers.

Because of their generosity, our shelves are richer with books that invite curiosity and encourage students to keep turning pages. It is a true blessing to have families who recognize the importance of literacy and support our mission in such a meaningful way.

Raelyn and family, we are so thankful for your kindness and for the lasting impact you have made on our students and our library.

We are incredibly grateful to the Sheehy family for their generous support of our library. Their thoughtful contribution has brought new life to our shelves and opened the door to exciting opportunities for our students to explore, imagine, and grow.

Thanks to their kindness, our students can enjoy a wide range of new books that will nurture curiosity and encourage a lasting love of reading. It means so much to have families like the Sheehys who value literacy and invest so meaningfully in our school community.

We had a very special week in the library! Our Kindergarten through 3rd grade students enjoyed a visit from children’s author Rita Grace, the grandma of Emery, Alex, and Carly Huebert, who appear in her books.

She shared her books The Magical Train Ride and The Old Mulberry Treehouse with the students, and they loved listening to the stories and asking lots of thoughtful questions. Rita took time to patiently answer each one, which made the visit even more special.

A sweet highlight of the visit—literally—was that she brought chocolate chip cookies, just like the ones mentioned in her books! The students were delighted to enjoy a tasty treat as they listened.

Another memorable moment was when she showed the students a poem she wrote in elementary school. Seeing that even authors start writing when they’re kids inspired many of our students to think about becoming writers themselves.

Rita generously donated both books to our library, so students can now check them out and enjoy the stories again and again.

I’ve attached links to her books on Amazon. If you purchase a copy and send it to school with your student, Rita has kindly offered to sign the books and return them!
