On the evening of September 20, 2023 in the Topmost community of Knott county, Constable J. Hicks observed a vehicle traveling South on Ky Rt7. The owner of the vehicle was known to have active warrants, so vehicle was pursued. After the vehicle crossed the center line, Constable Hicks initiated a traffic stop. Once he approached the vehicle, he noticed the truck was not being operated by the owner, but by a 47 y/o male subject. Subject stated he had no ID, but gave his information to Constable Hicks. After running his info through the system, the ex*****on of 4 active warrants in the state of Ky was made. The male subject was detained, and with the assistance of KSP Unit 357, placed into custody and transported to the Kentucky River Regional Jail. After the Male subject was released to Jail staff, it was determined he was also Federally wanted by the ATF. Subject remains in custody at KY River Regional Jail at this time

In order to stay compliant with Kentucky Policy, all safety checkpoints must me announced before they’re carried out. This being said, there will be safety checkpoints performed throughout District 4(Beaver and Caney) in any area, between the hours of 3:30pm-2am, beginning August 15th, through December 31st 2023. Safety checkpoint will be carried out in the following places, at any time during these dates stated above…

Also, Safety checkpoint can occur on RT 7, along with 582, and 899.

Now that School is back in session, please watch for children standing beside roadways, or crossing roads during the morning and evening hours!! I am getting a lot of calls of people speeding, and driving unsafe in multiple areas. If you know me, you know I’m all about second chances, so I am asking for those that are driving unsafe, to please slow down. I don’t want to pull anyone over and write them a citation for reckless driving, but before I see one of our children get hurt, you can bet your bottom dollar I will write until the pen is out of ink!! So please, slow down and drive safe. Our childrens safety depends on you obeying the law!! Hope each of you have a blessed and wonderful week!! Share if you feel lead to. God Bless
