Good evening,
We are excited to share with our community and the surrounding communities the training we go through to gain additional knowledge, adapt to ever-changing environments, strengthen our vital skills, and prepare for or anticipate situations that may arise. Your dedicated firefighters meet twice a month to train, ensuring that we are providing efficient, quick, and safe services to our district. Last night, firefighters met for training on the new windows that have become part of the new building code on the island. These windows, called Ocean View High Performance Windows by Viwinco, are constructed of a vinyl frame with no grids. They are double-glazed windows infused with argon that are impact-resistant and can withstand up to 150 mph winds. They have an energy performance rating U-factor of 0.28 and a solar heat gain coefficient of 0.20. Additionally, they are rated for 0.46 visible transmittance. These windows are certified by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC). We were given one of these windows and were able to not only conduct a thorough class on it but also visualize how this product will perform during firefighter operations. Due to the new windows, we have purchased a new blade for our K12 saw that is specifically designed to help gain access if needed.
