Ladies Auxiliary has Mother’s Day and Father’s Day baskets for sale at the West Main station for the next couple of hours. Posted 1pm 4/25.

4/3 West Side Ladies Auxiliary is selling Easter Baskets, at our 256 West Main Street station from about 4:30 - 8 this evening.

At 10:55 this morning, West Side VFD responded to a Water rescue around the 2600 block of Vorpe Rd. Utility 215 was first on scene & confirmed a guy stuck in the ice on a boat & unable to make it out. Saint Albans WV Fire was requested for a water rescue team. Crews assembled rope systems to assist the team on the boat. Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department was requested to man the other side of the river. There was no injuries, all units have returned to service.

(Late Post) On January 29th, at 16:57, West Side VFD was dispatched to a structure with possible entrapment on Wilson Ln in Tornado. Upon arrival, Engine 211 advised a single story house with roughly 50% fire envolvement. There was no entrapment upon arrival. Crew’s stretched 1 3/4 in hose lines for fire suppression. Additional manpower was requested along with Tankers due to a no hydrants in the area.

Crew’s sealed with partial structural collapse sending one firefighter to the hospital, but is now okay.

West Side #2 Engine 212 led by Asst. Chief 2103 handled the patient and vehicle that was struck by the fleeing vehicle at Coal River and Browns Creek while West Side Rescue 222 handled the fire in the striking vehicle. Good communication was used to get both scenes handled efficiently and effectively by both stations.
