We’re excited to announce that Addie Aubley is joining the SBCCOG as a project coordinator on our Environmental Services and Energy Efficiency team!

Addie first joined the SBCCOG as a CivicSpark Fellow in October 2025. Since then, she has helped South Bay communities access energy efficiency programs, track energy use and coordinate a range of environmental initiatives.

We’re thrilled to welcome Addie to the team and look forward to all she’ll continue to accomplish in this new role! 🎉

Each year the SBCCOG selects candidates from the CivicSpark program—an award-winning, evidence-based fellowship program for emerging leaders interested in gaining professional experience in local community planning issues—to contribute to program work for an eight to 11-month service period.

As the 2025/20206 service term concludes, Addie Aubley, SBCCOG energy programs fellow, Moana Franco, communications and outreach fellow, and Aaron Ruiz, transportation fellow, presented highlights from their service year at the August board meeting.

⚡Aubley helped implement the Energy and Climate Recognition Program💡 , the Kits for Kids Program🏫 , the Facility Equipment Inventory Program, and the Commercial Direct Install Program.

📣Moana Franco developed social media content, developed stories highlighting homeless services program successes✍ , revamped the Housing and Homeless Services website🏠, participated in community outreach efforts, and helped launch the SBCCOG’s Communications Working Group.

🛺 Aaron Ruiz refined routes for the Local Travel Network🚲 🛴 , advanced the Carson to the Sea program through stakeholder engagement and project support, and wrote and published the quarterly Turtle Talk Newsletter🐢.

The SBCCOG is tremendously grateful for the contributions of these fellows to its programs throughout the year and wishes them much success. Addie will be joining the SBCCOG full-time as an energy team project coordinator. 🎊

The South Bay Cities Council of Governments is studying 📝 opportunities to create mobility hubs in the South Bay. These are places that bring together transportation options, community amenities and welcoming public spaces in one convenient location.

Mobility hubs could include shade 🌳, seating 🪑, landscaping 🌻, public art 🖼️, gathering spaces👥, transit connections 🚐, bike and NEV parking 🚲🛺, travel information🧳, and safer walking 🚶and biking facilities 🚵‍♀️. The goal is to create places that support everyday life and make travel options like the Local Travel Network easier to use.

Different places will need different features, but amenities that benefit all choices mean better access and stronger communities for everyone.

We’re excited to celebrate recent promotions at the SBCCOG! 🎉

Please join us in congratulating Anne Tsai, Jake Romoff and Shawn Fujioka on their new roles as senior project coordinators!

🚲 Anne Tsai advances the SBCCOG’s micromobility strategy and administers Measure R and M subregional transportation programs. She is passionate about advancing a vision for sustainable transportation in the South Bay through collaboration with public agencies, elected officials and community members.

🚧 Jake Romoff leads program development and advancement for transportation infrastructure, land development and the South Bay Fiber Network, with his portfolio now expanding to include energy projects. He values the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects at an organization helping push the boundaries of technology and mobility solutions for cities.

🌱 Shawn Fujioka supports energy efficiency, climate action and adaptation, biodiversity and GIS initiatives. Her work includes developing municipal energy and sustainability programs, securing $1.6 million in Prop 68 funding for biodiversity planning and native plant demonstrations and helping advance the SBCCOG’s mission to empower communities to take sustainable action.

We’re proud to recognize their contributions and look forward to all they’ll accomplish in their new roles!

We’re proud to share some recent achievements from the SBCCOG’s Renter Protection and Homeless Prevention (RPHP) program!

The RPHP program works to promote housing stability across the South Bay by helping residents avoid eviction and displacement and preventing housing instability from turning into homelessness.
