CHP arrest freeway shooting suspect.
On March 28, 2026, at 9:33 pm, CHP South LA officers responded to a call of a highway violence incident that occurred on Interstate 710 south at Willow Street. The victims were at their residence requesting CHP assistance. Upon further investigation, it was discovered, the incident occurred earlier that day at approximately 5:58 pm. The incident was captured on a dash cam recorder. The suspect fired one round striking the victim’s vehicle in the right rear door, near where a toddler was secured within a car seat, and a family member was seated in the right rear passenger seat. The CHP South Los Angeles Special Investigations Unit responded and led the investigation. Utilizing the dash cam footage, the suspect vehicle was identified. On April 5, 2026, at approximately 4:55 pm the suspect was located driving the suspect vehicle. A male suspect was arrested, and a search of the vehicle resulted in investigators locating an unregistered, loaded black 9mm handgun with a high-capacity magazine. The suspect was booked for attempted murder, firing at an occupied vehicle, and felon in possession of a loaded firearm.
Violence of any kind has no place on our roadways. A moment of anger behind the wheel can lead to dangerous decisions: speeding, tailgating, or aggressive driving. It’s not worth it.
