TORRINGTON TALENTED AND GIFTED UPDATE:

On June 9, 7th and 8th grade TAG Students attended annual awards night. We are so proud of all of their accomplishments! Thanks to 3 eight graders for leading our ceremony: Grace Spatafore, Alexandra Remillard, and May Yunganaula .

Yesterday, TAG students learned about solar energy and constructed their own solar ovens. On the hottest day, they went to test them out by roasting marshmallows using renewable energy! The experiment was a success!

THANK YOU to our teacher and staff supporters at Central Perk Cafe! Because of your support, the Life Skills students were able to enjoy a wonderful outing to R&B Sportworld in Winsted on Wednesday, May 27th.

We had an amazing time playing mini-golf and enjoying pizza and ice cream. Most importantly, we got to spend time together, have fun, and create great memories as a group!

Jimmy won the mini-golf game, but the girls dominated the hole-in-one competition β€” with Melanie scoring an impressive three holes in one!

It was the perfect day, and everyone had a blast. Thank you again for supporting our student-led cafe and helping provide opportunities for our students to get out into the community and practice vital life skills.

Good Morning TMS,

It is my pleasure to share and celebrate the recipients of three very special recognitions within our school community. These individuals exemplify dedication, professionalism, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to supporting our students and school each and every day.

Please join me in congratulating our 2026 award recipients:

Teacher of the Year – Alana Crosby: Alana’s commitment to student learning, positive relationships, and excellence in the classroom continues to make a lasting impact on both students and colleagues alike. Her passion for education and dedication to our school community are truly deserving of this recognition.

Paraeducator of the Year – Delvin Alvarez: Delvin consistently goes above and beyond in support of students and staff. His patience, positivity, and commitment to helping all students succeed make him an invaluable member of our school community.

Golden Apple Award Winner – Jason Beckett: Jason’s dedication, leadership, and contributions to our school have positively influenced countless students and colleagues. This recognition reflects the meaningful difference he makes every day.

We are incredibly fortunate to work alongside such outstanding individuals. Please take a moment to congratulate Alana, Delvin, and Jason on these well-deserved honors.

Thank you all for the work you do each day to support our students and one another.

Thank You,
Jeff Pinney

🎣🐟 The TMS Unified Sports Team went on our final adventure of the school year on Tuesday, 5/26, with a fishing trip to Camp Mohawk in Cromwell! 🌞🌊

After spending the past several weeks learning how to cast and reel their fishing rods, the students put their skills to the test β€” and their hard work paid off! πŸŽ‰

A big congratulations to Hudson and Garrett, who both successfully caught and released a fish! πŸŽ£πŸ‘

It was the perfect day on a beautiful lake with amazing weather, lots of smiles, and great memories made together. β˜€οΈπŸ’™

Fun was definitely had by all! 😊

We are excited to share our May 2026 2-D Art newsletter! This edition features a collection of artwork from our 7th and 8th grade artists and highlights the creativity, effort, and artistic growth students have shown throughout the month. We are very proud of the work being created in the art room, and we hope you enjoy taking a look at some of the projects students have completed! Great work TMS Art Students and Mr. Preato their teacher,.

On Friday, Mrs. Pecha and the VOICES program at TMS visited Action Wildlife in Goshen for an exciting end-of-year field trip!

This trip was the culminating activity for our farm and animal study this year. Students had the opportunity to see many amazing animals β€” including cows, goats, sheep, and pigs that we learned about throughout the school year β€” along with several animals that are not native to New England or found on local farms.

We are also excited to be able to purchase much-needed classroom items thanks to the incredible support from everyone who participated in our shirt fundraiser. We truly could not have done this without you!

Check out the pictures to see some very happy students enjoying a great day of learning and fun!
