Let's face it, tree pruning is not easy! If you have fruit trees that look more like a “haunted orchard” than a “bountiful harvest”, then this workshop is for you.

The City of Torrington Conservation Commission, Northwest Conservation District, and Five Points are hosting a Tree Pruning Workshop on:

Saturday, March 21, 2026
10 am to 1 pm
852 University Drive, Torrington
Park at Five Points across the street.

Learn from Mike Nadeau, a nationally recognized arborist and organic land care expert with more than 30 years of experience. He will cover:

• Tree rehabilitation techniques
• Smart pruning and maintenance strategies
• Soil health and nutrition tips
• Pest and disease management

Whether you are brand new to fruit trees or have been tending them for years, you will walk away with practical skills to keep your trees healthy and productive.

Dress for the weather.

Year in Review!

Thank you for your interest in Torrington's biking and walking trails! We will keep you updated on the Sue Grossman Greenway extension and other trails.

As 2025 ends, here are some of our accomplishments:

Sunnybrook Park: Repaired the Blue trail bridge and built boardwalks.

Buttrick Trail: Cleared sections with help from Gregor Technologies employees.

John Brown Trail: Improved wet areas, cleared brush, put up signs, and hosted a Connecticut Trails Day hike.

Red Oak Preservation: Preserved a historic red oak near Five Points Art Center.

Community Involvement: Assisted the Torrington Historical Society, participated in Earth Day cleanup, Yarn Bomb, and Winterfest.

Sue Grossman Greenway: Conducted user counts and met with city officials to discuss the extension. The next section, the Red Mountain Trail, is planned for 2026.

Lakeridge Community Presentation: Shared TTN plans with a sold-out crowd of about 60.

Tour of the Litchfield Hills: Manned a booth and introduced our plans to dozens of potential users and supporters.
