A quick update about the SAREC potato donation to Food Bank of Wyoming. We received word that we donated 11,096 pounds of potatoes to the state in 2026. This was an accomplishment that took a huge team to pull off. Thank you to SAREC staff, UW Cent$ible Nutrition, University of Wyoming Extension, and our incredible volunteers that helped bag potatoes on a cold morning. We had approximately 80 volunteers come to SAREC to help bag, this huge crew had all of the potatoes picked up in about 2 hours. Huge thanks to all groups that helped. These potatoes mostly stayed in Wyoming to help feed hungry Wyoming residents.

Last Thursday was our 2025 North Platte Valley Ag Expo & Field Day! Thank you to everyone who braved the heat to come participate, to those who helped with set up & tearing down, and to everyone who presented or set up a table for our showcase. It was an extremely fun and informational day!

Happy National Intern Day to our three SAREC Interns- Kate, Courtney, and Abigaile! These three can often be found together at work, but also on their own spare time at concerts, on road trips, or simply just out and about. It is never a boring time when they come into the office with a story to share. Just recently the three entered the Platte County Fair Redneck Races. Kacey, our Assistant Research Scientist, even made the trip to go watch them compete!

We are extremely grateful for the hard work these three dedicate to SAREC! We also would like to wish them good luck as they head into the fall and begin a new academic year. Kate & Courtney will return to Eastern Wyoming College, and Abigaile is starting at the University of Wyoming!

At the beginning of the month we brought some new faces to SAREC! This includes Kacey as our new Assistant Research Scientist. We are looking forward to having him here to assist with the research completed at SAREC!
