Our community gathered at the Valley View Cemetery this morning to join the members of American Legion Travis Snow Post 5 in remembering and honoring those who gave their lives in the service of our great Country.

Representative Harriet Hagerman provided a solemn reminder of the debt that we owe for the freedom that we enjoy.

We are forever grateful for those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could live in freedom

This was a busy week for our agency, and we are ready for the weekend!

We wanted to take a moment to highlight a high-quality training event that we were grateful to host this week.

David Pearson, with Rocky Mountain Blue Line Consulting, provided a series of sessions on law enforcement tactics that were specifically geared towards small teams of officers and small agencies who respond to dynamic incidents with limited resources. This information is critical for our officers who are constantly preparing to keep our community and themselves safe.

We were able to coordinate our scheduling to have almost all of our team attend, along with officers from other agencies in southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska.

Please have a safe and fantastic weekend!

Our SRO Team had a great time celebrating the last day of school with our Torrington schools.

Officer Easton did such a good job convincing the kids at Trail that he was going on vacation, they photoshopped him onto a beach. Unfortunately for him, all vacation requests have been denied!!

We wish everyone a SAFE and happy Summer!

Please don’t forget to register for D.A.R.E Camp June 1st to the 5th!

As National Police Week comes to a close with National Police Officers Memorial Day, we want to take a moment to honor and remember the men and women who have given their lives for the safety of the communities that they serve.

In our community, we remember the life, service, and sacrifice of LT Harley Mark, who was lost to us in the line of duty on September 7th, 1993. His sacrifice, and that of his family, will never be forgotten.

A tale of two Segways…

Last month, we had some amazing folks contact our agency and offer a donation of two Segway scooters they no longer had use for. We gratefully accepted this generous gift and assigned the two Segways to our fantastic SROs, Officer Ryall and Officer Easton, who were very excited to have them!

In addition to being a really effective way to patrol school campuses and events, the scooters have proven to be a fun way for our SROs to connect with kids and increase their visibility. We won’t lie, over the last month there have been some absolutely hilarious jokes about the movie “Paul Blart Mall Cop” that have kept us all in stitches….

To the folks who made this generous donation, all we can say is THANK YOU!

The Segways would have otherwise been beyond the limits of our budget, and our SRO team will continue to use the tools you gave us to keep our schools safe and build great relationships with the kids that they serve!

Blart One and Blart Two are in service!!

Awesome work, Officer Easton!

**Torrington Police Department Investigates Attempted Fraud and Identity Theft**

On May 12th, 2026, at approximately 1:30pm, Torrington Police Department officers responded to Points West Community Bank on the report of a suspect attempting to assume a customer’s identity to fraudulently withdraw funds from the bank. An alert bank employee noticed the attempt and alerted bank management and law enforcement.

Officers arrived on scene and detained the adult suspect, who was later taken into custody for Identity Theft, False Identity, and Attempt to Commit a Felony. The suspect is not a resident of Torrington. These charges are based on probable cause developed by law enforcement officers during their investigation, all defendants should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

There were no reported threats of violence or harm made towards any customers or staff members in the bank, and there is no indication of an ongoing threat or public safety concern related to this incident.

If you have information about this incident and have not yet spoken to a law enforcement officer, please contact the Torrington Police Department at 307-532-7001 and ask to speak with Detective Matt Maestas.

This investigation remains open and active. No additional details are available at this time.
