With every No Kings rally, more people are waking up to the fact that our democracy is eroding exponentially. Today, hundreds filled Torrington's Coe Memorial Park in the cold, united by powerful speeches, beautiful singing, and one very clear message: we refuse to look away.

A huge thank you to all the speakers including Torrington DTC members, Stephen Ivain & George Craig, & Litchfield Democrats Chair, Daniela Larsson. Also thank you to the folk singers who moved us, to NWCT Indivisible and Northwest CT Take Action for making this happen, and to everyone who brought food to donate to the The Community Kitchen of Torrington .

This movement isn't slowing down. Are you with us?

In case you were wondering... The referendum for funding to replace the roof at Torrington Intermediate School passed by 18 votes. Yes! Your vote does matter! There were 200 yes votes to 182 no votes. Also, yes, that is a very low voter turnout considering there are over 20,000 registered voters in Torrington!

Vote YES on TUESDAY, MARCH 24.

Torrington voters have a decision to make, and this one is pretty straightforward.

The roof at Torrington Intermediate School (formerly the Middle School) is 30 years old and needs to be replaced. The total project cost is $6.6 million, and the State of Connecticut will cover about 75% of that, saving the city nearly $5 million. This work has to be done eventually, so voting YES is simply the smart financial move.

A failing roof doesn't just mean leaks. It means moisture, mold risk, and poor air quality. Kids spend hours every day in that building, and a wet, deteriorating structure is simply not a healthy environment for learning. Replacing the roof protects the building and the air our children breathe inside it.

Voting YES protects our kids and our city's financial footing.

Polls are open 6 am to 8 pm on Tuesday, March 24, at City Hall ONLY. No early voting, but absentee ballots are available now through the City Clerk's office.

Please note: Non-elector property owners who are liable for at least $1,000 in Torrington property taxes are also eligible to vote on this question.

Torrington kids and families deserve a safe community. Help us keep it that way.

This Wednesday, March 11, the Connecticut Public Health Committee will hold a hearing on two bills, HB 5044 and SB 450, that would keep vaccine policy in the hands of Connecticut's Commissioner of Public Health.

Why support these bills now? Because RFK Jr. has packed the federal advisory committee that makes CDC vaccine recommendations with vaccine skeptics. Connecticut needs the authority to follow the science.

State Sen. Stephen Harding (R-30) and Rep. Joe Canino (R-65) oppose this legislation. Torrington families deserve better, and your voices should be heard.

You can testify in person at Room 1D of the Legislative Office Building, on Zoom, or by submitting written testimony online. The deadline to register is Tuesday, March 10 at 3 pm.

Candidate announcement for State Senate in the 30th district!
Meet Aaron Zimmer of Brookfield. Aaron is a longtime DTC member and previous Chair. He was also a candidate for the 107th House District in 2024 and has been an indispensable campaign volunteer and advocate for working families in CT for years.

Please join us in supporting Aaron’s campaign. Visit his website to sign up for campaign updates and learn how you can help flip the 30th from red to blue. And if you’re able, he’d really appreciate a donation too!

Are you ready for a fight? I am.

Over the next several days and weeks, I’ll be sharing more about my platform and priorities. But first, I wanted you to hear it directly from me: I’m running for State Senate.

Our community deserves representation in Hartford that will stand up to Trump and work every day to make life materially better for the people of the 30th District. We deserve honesty. We deserve authenticity. And most importantly, we deserve a Senator who will bring people together to solve real problems, not one who thrives on dividing us.

If you believe in that vision, please click the link above and add your name to join this fight. And if you’re able, please pitch in a few dollars to help power our campaign. Together, we can build the kind of leadership our district truly deserves.

Have a great Friday, friends.
