Holiday Food Drive
Members of the Torrington Police Union Local 442 will be conducting a food drive on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Price Chopper Supermarket (Market 32) in Torrington. The food drive is to help benefit Friendly Hands Food Bank, Inc. of Torrington. The food drive will run from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Friendly Hands Food Bank, Inc. is a non-profit organization which benefits over 500 families in Torrington, Litchfield, Bantam, Morris, Goshen, Northfield and Harwinton. In its 24 years of existence, Friendly Hands Food Bank, Inc. has seen the needs of families increase and this year is no exception.
During this holiday food drive we are looking to collect some of the traditional Thanksgiving food items such as turkeys, pies, stuffing, gravy, vegetables, cranberry sauce, chicken broth, black olives, pickles, mixed nuts, apple juice, cranberry juice and cake/brownie mixes. The food bank is in desperate need of everyday food items as well, so any type of donation will be greatly appreciated during our event.
If people are unable to make the event we ask that they please make a donation at Friendly Hands headquarters located at 50 King Street in Torrington. The food bank's volunteer staff will be more than happy to accept any donation including cash donations.
For more information about the food drive please contact Det. Todd Fador or Officer Matt Fifer at the Torrington Police Department (860) 489-2000. For additional information regarding Friendly Hands Food Bank, Inc. please call Maureen Hubert (860) 482-3338.
