City of Torrington Parks and Recreation Department The Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to offer a variety of programs and events to enjoy for all ages!

The Torrington Parks and Recreation Department is comprised of two divisions. The Recreation Department is responsible for organizing and administering a comprehensive assortment of recreation programs, athletic leagues, and special events for youth, teens, adults, senior citizens, and families. In addition to organizing programs, the Recreation Department administers scheduling for all city-opera

ted athletic fields and facility rentals at the Armory and Coe Memorial Park Civic Center. The Parks Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 26 parks and facilities, comprised of over 230 acres of both active and passive parkland. The Torrington Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer an outdoor pool, pond, playgrounds, picnic shelters, baseball fields, softball fields, soccer fields, trails, outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, ice rink, sledding hill, indoor gymnasium, Skatepark, Teen Center, Recreation Hall, Civic Center, Gardens at Coe Memorial Park, and Carl Bozenski’s Christmas Village. The Parks Department completes regular maintenance functions throughout the parks system including: mowing, trimming, turf maintenance, landscaping, lining and grooming ballfields, painting, trash removal, graffiti removal, pool maintenance, building maintenance, snow removal, tree maintenance, and much more.

As another summer at the William L. Besse Municipal Pool comes to an end, we want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to our amazing seasonal lifeguards! 🛟

You did so much more than watch the water—you made the pool a fun, welcoming place where our community kids could swim, laugh, play, and make memories all summer long. ❤️

And if you ever wondered whether the kids loved you… just take a look at all the wonderful cards they made for you! 💌🖍️ These sweet messages say it all.

To our lifeguards: thank you for your hard work, patience, energy, and smiles all summer long. You made a difference, and our town kids noticed! 🥰

We’re excited to welcome **TIM URBAN** to Torrington for a **SPECIAL PERFORMANCE** as part of the Torrington Parks & Recreation 2026 Summer Concert Series! 🎸☀️

If you remember **American Idol Season 9**, you’ll remember Tim’s signature smile, acoustic guitar and positive personality as he made his way all the way to the **Top 7**! ⭐

Since his time on Idol, Tim has continued his career as a singer-songwriter, bringing his acoustic sound and easygoing style to audiences around the country. His musical influences include artists like **Jack Johnson, John Mayer and James Taylor**, making this a performance perfect for a summer afternoon in the park. 🎶
