Helens Science and Learning Center is open as a visitor portal during the winter while Johnston Ridge Observatory is closed due to snow. The building is available for rent for meetings, events, conferences, ceremonies, and education programs. Mount St. Helens Institute, a non-profit partner of the United States Forest Service utilizes the building for education programs and a month event series from May through October.

Little bit of ash being kicked up this morning. Nothing to be alarmed about as this is fairly normal. Constant rockfalls in the crater free up loose ash and dust. When winds pick up enough, the swirling inside the crater pick this material up and loft it out. The material is fine enough that it stays suspended.
