🖤 Today, we lost another artist who made a lasting impact on the LGBTQ+ community. 🕯️

Tim Curry’s unforgettable portrayal of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show became an important part of LGBTQ+ culture and inspired generations to embrace individuality, self-expression, and being unapologetically themselves.

Thank you, Tim, for helping so many people feel seen, accepted, and free to be themselves. Your legacy will live on. ✨🌈

🇧🇷 Stop #4: Brazil

Our August journey ends in Brazil, a country known for its vibrant culture, passionate communities, and one of the largest Pride celebrations in the world.

Brazil’s LGBTQ+ community has played a powerful role in advocating for visibility, acceptance, and equality. In 2011, Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court recognized same-sex civil unions, and in 2013, same-sex marriage was formally recognized nationwide. Today, LGBTQ+ Brazilians continue working toward safety, inclusion, and equal rights.

🌈 LGBTQ+ Fun Fact: São Paulo Pride celebrated its 30th edition in 2026, bringing millions of people together to celebrate LGBTQ+ visibility, community, and advocacy. It set the Guinness World Record for the largest Pride parade in 2006 and broke its own record in 2009 with an estimated 4 million attendees! 🎉

🌍🏳️‍🌈 Travel Tuesday: Pride Around the World

🇳🇿 Stop #3: New Zealand

This week, we’re visiting New Zealand, where inclusion and equality are reflected in both modern progress and Indigenous history.

In 2013, New Zealand became one of the first countries in the Asia-Pacific region to legalize marriage equality. The country is also home to the Māori term takatāpui, which has long been used to describe Māori people with diverse sexualities and gender identities, honoring the intersection of Indigenous culture and LGBTQ+ identity.

🌈 LGBTQ+ Fun Fact: When New Zealand’s marriage equality bill passed in Parliament, supporters celebrated by singing the traditional Māori love song “Pokarekare Ana,” creating one of the most memorable moments in LGBTQ+ history.
