PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Fireworks Reminder for Towanda Borough Residents.

As we approach the summer season, the Towanda Borough Police Department would like to remind residents that firework use within Towanda Borough is not permitted under Towanda Borough ordinances. These local rules are in place to protect property, reduce fire hazards, and maintain neighborhood safety.

In addition to borough regulations, residents across Pennsylvania should remember that statewide fireworks laws also apply.

Pennsylvania law requires: Consumer fireworks may only be used on private property with the property owner’s permission. Fireworks cannot be ignited or discharged within 150 feet of an occupied structure. Fireworks cannot be used on public streets, sidewalks, or parks. Fireworks cannot be used while under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances. Fireworks cannot be directed at people, vehicles, or buildings.

We ask everyone to be respectful of your neighbors, especially those who may be sensitive to loud noises, including veterans, young children, and individuals with anxiety.

Please also remember that pets and animals can become extremely stressed or frightened by fireworks.

Your cooperation helps keep Towanda safe, peaceful, and community‑focused.

If you have questions about local ordinances or Pennsylvania fireworks laws, please contact the Towanda Borough Police Department.
