Hamilton Rotary Goes to Camp
The Madison County Children’s Camp hosted the Hamilton Rotary Club for a visit of the camp in action. The Hamilton Rotary has been helping to maintain a cabin at Camp Lookout for at least 10 years and reportedly the club has supported the camp years ago, too. The members took a walking tour of the camp and visited their cabin to see the new cubby doors built and installed by John Bailey with the help of John Guzman. Every year the club helps get the cabin ready for the summer camping season by raking leaves, clearing fallen limbs (including on the roof), sweeping the interior, cleaning and repairing screens, and providing various cabin furnishings.
After the tour, the club was invited to share a delicious and nutritious lunch with the campers and their counselors.
An Anthology of Flowers by Maddie Bailey was donated to the Hamilton Public Library in honor of the Madison County Children’s Camp, Camp Lookout

Rotarian Barbara Linsley shared a captivating slide show and an insightful talk about the Norse settlements in Iceland, Greenland, and Newfoundland. Her in-depth knowledge, fascinating details and storytelling skill brought history to life. Norse explorer, Eric the Red, the first European settler in Greenland in 986 named it "Greenland" to attract settlers, whereas "Iceland" was named to keep others away.
The children's book "The Atlas of Shipwrecks" by Jo Arnold, presented by past president John Bailey, was donated to the Hamilton Public Library in Barbara's honor. Check it out for another interesting history adventure.

On May 28, Johanna Bossard, Agriculture Education Teacher and FFA Advisor, introduced us to two senior students whose experiences in her classes have helped shape their future career paths. Through opportunities such as job shadowing and capstone projects tailored to their individual interests, both students have gained valuable real-world experience and professional connections.
James Hanmer has developed a strong interest in automotive repair, while Jack Penoyer has focused on welding. Several local businesses generously participated in the job shadowing program, including Brink Manufacturing and Design, Doc’s Small Engine Repair, SUNY Morrisville’s Ford ASSET Program, Paul’s Paint Shop, the British Blacksmith, Pierce Auto Parts, Barbland and White Eagle Dairy, A&R Tire Service, Joe Inman, Project Manager at Colgate University, and Deployed Global Solutions at Griffiss Air Force Base.
As a result of these experiences, both students have been offered part-time employment opportunities. Following graduation from HCS, Jack will attend Mohawk Valley Community College, and James will continue his education through SUNY Morrisville’s Ford ASSET Program.
Both young men expressed sincere gratitude to Mrs. Bossard and HCS for helping them develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed for future success. We congratulate Jack and James and wish them continued success in their careers.
In their honor, the children’s book Green Cities: How Green Infrastructure Helps Urban Cities Thrive by Sheila Boudreau was donated to the Hamilton Public Library.

We have the most interesting Rotary members! The past couple of weeks we have been treated to fun and educational programs from our members Anastasia Wells and Pastor Bill Stoklosa. Anastasia's program was a series of trivia challenges testing our awareness of plants, animals and hats! Pastor Bill shared his beautiful photos of his trip to the sunny southern National Parks taken during a recent trip. His knowledge of the parks is so extensive that we felt like we had actually been their ourselves.
The children's book "Faster than a Jet, Bigger than a Whale" was donated in Pastor Bill's honor to the Hamilton Public Library.
