Due to an unusually strong geomagnetic storm, the Aurora Borealis can be seen in tonight.

It’s not visible with the naked eye, but there’s a way.

Change your camera settings to night vision. (A phone works too.) Face north. Look up to the sky. Point the camera in the direction in the sky you want to view. It will be visible in the camera.

Extinguish Your Thirst – Townsend Fire Company Craft Brews, Blues, and Barbecue

Welcome to Extinguish Your Thirst – Townsend Fire Company Pop Up Craft Beer Night! Join us at Townsend Fire Company Station 26 for a night of delicious craft beers and good company. Come hang out with fellow beer connoisseur or just looking for a fun night out, this event is perfect for you. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to enjoy some great brews in a cool setting. See you there!
Event will feature craft beers from Volunteer Brewing, Crooked Hammoch, First State Brewing, and JAKL Brew Works, great live music by Roger Girke and his Blues Band on the Hay Wagon Stage, and Barbecue. There will also be a few fire trucks for the kids to climb aboard and learn about.

The event is rain or shine. If it’s shining, we will be out in the yard behind the firehouse; but if it rains, we will move out the trucks and enjoy the evening inside.

I wish I can say it ain’t so, but here it is, another scorcher on the horizon. Stay hydrated and keep indoors if at all possible.

The heat and humidity will continue to build through the first half of this week. Tuesday looks like the hottest day. With this heat and high humidity, it will not take much to get some strong thunderstorms going during each afternoon. Stay safe and cool!

July 11, 2024 Dear Residents and Community Members, I am honored and thrilled to introduce myself as the new Town Manager of Townsend. With a deep commitment to public service and a passion for community development, I bring 10+ years of experience in Property and HOA management and a steadfast dedication to fostering a thriving and inclusive Townsend. My journey in management began in rental properties from running apartment complexes and commercial sub-divisions. As the years progressed, a shift to HOA management occurred giving me my first experience with Governing Boards, Charters and Codes of Authority etc. Throughout my career, I have championed initiatives aimed at enhancing civic engagement and improving infrastructure all while ensuring fiscal responsibility. I believe in transparent governance and collaborative decision-making to address the needs and aspirations of our diverse community. Townsend holds a special place in my heart, as a Resident of the MOT area for many years, and I am eager to work alongside all of you to build upon the town's rich history and promising future.
