It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our Assistant Chief, Stan Totten, on August 12, 2025.

A memorial service to honor Stan’s life and legacy will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Townsend Station 1, located at 133 Tiger Drive, Townsend, TN. Following the service, a procession will take place to Grandview Cemetery, where Stan will be laid to rest.

The Totten family and the Townsend Area Volunteer Fire Department warmly invite friends, neighbors, and members of the community to attend this service in remembrance of Stan.

Stan faithfully served the Townsend community for more than 30 years as a firefighter and Assistant Chief. He was a mentor, teacher, and friend to all of us, and his absence will be felt deeply. While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Stan had a saving faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are confident that upon entering the kingdom of heaven, he was joyfully reunited with his beloved wife of 67 years, Marge.

Stan’s life was one of remarkable service and dedication:
• Veteran of the Korean War
• High school science teacher for 23 years
• Instructor in Fire Science and Technology at two community colleges
• Instructor for the National Fire Academy
• Recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award from the National Park Service
• Dedicated member of the Marmora Volunteer Fire Company and the Townsend Area Volunteer Fire Department, amassing over 70 years in the Volunteer Fire Service

At 95 years of age, Stan’s legacy is one of honor, service, and unwavering commitment to others.

Go rest high on that mountain, brother. Your work on earth is done.

Respectfully,
Chief Don Stallions

Much thanks to Peaceful Side Social for their donation!

As part of their program, Peaceful Side Social donates 0.5% of every check, and when guests choose to round up their total, those small acts of kindness add up to a generous gift that helps us continue serving our community.
