Been a busy few days here for Townsend Fire/Rescue!
Saturday, August 8th was wildfire training led by FF Stallions. Crews spent time deploying new wildland hose packs, talking wildfire dynamics and response, and refreshers on pumping off of our Brush trucks.
On August 9th, at 7:45pm we were dispatched to the National Park to assist park rangers with two people stranded in the river, and three stranded on the opposite side of the river. All were recovered safely. A special thanks to the Swiftwater Rescue Tech, Sam, that had his kayak and assisted as well.
On August 10th, at 3:03pm we responded to the National Park to assist victims of a car accident up a steep embankment.
On August 10th, at 4:36pm, we had something a little different.
We responded to a local pond, where it appeared a lost dog was immobile and had some heat exhaustion. We used our ropes equipment to haul the dog up the hill into our Rescue 3. The dog was transferred to Blount County Animal Control and was transported to the emergency vet.
