The Washington Township Police Department is encouraging all residents to stay weather-aware as strong storms are expected to move through our area today. Heavy rain, damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, and localized flooding are all possible.

Please take a few moments to prepare:

• Secure outdoor furniture, umbrellas, and other loose items.
• Charge your cell phones and other important electronic devices.
• Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain or severe weather.
• Never drive through flooded roadways—Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
• If thunder roars, head indoors and stay away from windows.

Please use 911 for emergencies. For non-emergency matters, contact the Washington Township Police Department at (201) 664-1140.

Canadian wildfire smoke has been once again brought into the area causing an odor of smoke and hazy skies throughout the Township and most of New Jersey.
If you believe there is a fire, do not hesitate to call 911.
The odor of smoke will remain through Friday.

Yesterday, the Township proudly hosted its REV 250 Celebration at Memorial Field, bringing our community together for an evening of great entertainment and hometown spirit. Attendees enjoyed a live performance by Austin City Nights, followed by a spectacular drone show that lit up the night sky.

A special thank you to Chief Pecora, Captain G***k, Lieutenant Parsells, and Lieutenant Gugger, who served food throughout the event and helped make the celebration a memorable success. We appreciate everyone who attended and helped honor this special occasion with our community.

Now that the storm has passed, please continue to use caution while traveling throughout town.
Officers are actively patrolling the Township and checking for any storm-related hazards. Please be aware of downed trees/ branches and downed power lines (always assume they are energized and stay away).
