On the afternoon of May 27, 1997, a neighbor went to Barbara Stenzel's apartment, located at 2605 Yorkway in Dundalk, and found Barbara unresponsive on the sofa. The neighbor contacted 911 immediately and Barbara was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy later determined that she had been strangled and her death was ruled a homicide.

Barbara was described as a loving mother to her two young children. She was 37 years old at the time of her murder.

Attached to this post is a composite sketch created in 1997. Several witnesses reported seeing a male subject resembling the individual in the sketch enter Barbara’s apartment on the morning of her murder. It is also possible that he was clean-shaven at the time.
In 1997, this individual was reportedly seen operating both a white van and an older rust or maroon colored van. Detectives would like to speak with him in reference to this investigation.

If you have any information relating to the murder of Barbara Stenzel or the identity of the individual in the composite sketch, please contact the Baltimore County Police Department. Early in the morning of May 15, 1983, Catherine “Cathy” Marie Britt and her male acquaintance were parked on Poplar Hill Road near Merrymans Mill Road in the Loch Raven Reservoir watershed area. An unknown male suspect fired several shots through one of the vehicle's windows, striking both Cathy and the male acquaintance. Cathy and the male acquaintance were both transported to local hospitals where Cathy was ultimately pronounced deceased. The male acquaintance was critically injured but survived the shooting.

She had a job in banking lined up once she graduated from college. She was creative and enjoyed crabbing, needle point, and sewing.
